Absolutely not the same players whatsoever. Kovacic has had a season to bed in now and is a deputy to Rodri and nothing more. Doesn’t link up the attacks anywhere close to how Ilkay did.

Nothing wrong with Kovacic but against the Real Madrid’s you need to offer more than just keeping possession rocking over and we missed ilkay so much in champs league.

Would have him back in a heart beat. Understand peoples concerns about age/going backwards etc but ability alone he’s far better than any of our other realistic options atm, thats without factoring in his role off the pitch. Come home mate
