You're talking as if these are mutually exclusive achievements, but they aren't. What would stop us doing both.
Nothing, but we'd stand a far better chance of finishing fouth if we didn't have to play League Cup games.

People are over reacting and I very much doubt that they're over there in Chelsea demanding a new manager every 5 seconds.
But anyway, I wouldn't be his biggest fan, but I don't think he should be fired, give him a chance.
The only thing I don't like about him and maybe it's because of his poor English, but he seems to say the wrong things, things like giving the impression that he wants Given to leave, then saying he wont go cheap, he shouldn't be talking about selling him at all, because clearly Given wants to stay and play but Mancini gives the impression that that wont happen.
He then says in the interview for tonight, saying that really it doesn't matter, implying that it's really a nothing competition just a welcome break for the lads who are in his starting line up, in case they might have gotten injured. Giving no confidence, credit or reassurance to the players who played, just a sense of, ah well, we had to play them because we couldn't risk our stars.
We need to win every game, and whether or not they're thinking that ok the Prem is more important over in United or Chelsea, whether that is the menality or not is irrelevant because their managers would have not come out (at least I presume they wouldn't) and said that Saturday was more important. We need to be looking to win every game, here's where it went wrong.... That is what we should have heard tonight, not a sorry set of excuses.

Just my opinion, but...
The side he put out tonight showed how far up the list of priorities the League Cup is to us. Surely then, any debate is not about what team was put out it's whether this cup should be a priority to us due to our current spell without a major honour?
For me, I'm naturally disappointed with the result and the fact we are out of a cup comp, but I'm genuinely not that arsed. Clearly the Europa and the League itself are far more important (we won't know about the FA Cup until January), and if that is the case, I'd posit that has been agreed among the club's hierarchy; and if that's correct, we possibly shouldn't be doing too much naval gazing about this?

Just got back and Mancini out has never crossed my mind ,however mancini fucked up big time tonight has.Good turnout tonight by our lot ,and left dissapointed that he didnt take this game serious considering we are not exactley building a new new trophy cabinet to fit the Cc in.
If he was going to put a team of kids out and an old man that cant run he should of named the team last week and paid half the fooking ticket price
