Illegal PL streaming - 11 years in prison for "gang" leader.

Just for context the NBA season pass costs £179 and gives you access to every single game live.....

The football model is broken.

If you're not going to read past the first line of my comment, why bother replying at all?

I get 180 NBA games included with NowTV, including all the play-off games and most box office regular season match ups. I'm a pretty casual viewer and most games are on at unwatchable times anyway (2-5am).

Why would anyone pay £180 for 1300 games of basketball 90% of which no one wants to watch? That's not a better deal.

My point is the PL should be doing a similar model - why should I pay £600 a year for a variety of subscriptions, BT, SKY and not even get access to all the games?

Why do you want access to all games? There's more football on than anyone could ever watch.

Yes, it'd be nice to have the 5 City PL games a year that aren't on TV, but to get that you'd have to pay for the other 180 games currently not shown, which is mostly Bournemouth vs. Leeds or Southampton vs Leicester.

If you got a list of all 180 games a year not shown, I doubt there'd be 10 you really wanted to watch.

Not to even get into the whole 3pm blackout thing which is the government and may or may not be beneficial to small local clubs that the game is built on.

My unpopular opinion is that £600 is a very competitive price relative to all other forms of entertainment.

That's a subscription for Prime, BT Sport and Sky/NowTV sports. For that you get 200 PL games (usually 32/38 City games) 15 league cup games, 14 FA Cup all European games (533 across all 3 competitions).

That's not including 1,000 football league games (plus 30 conference games), Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Copa del Rey, International matches, Formula 1, Cricket, NFL, Rugby Union (international, premiership and European) and League, Tennis, Darts, Golf and NBA. Plus all the usual Amazon Prime TV shows.

Would I like it to be cheaper? Sure. But for £50 a month I watch as much sport as I could possibly want to. Most of the time there's too much on and I have to choose.

The 3 or 4 times a year City aren't televised, I'll take the dog for a walk and listen on the radio. Over the winter, I probably watch 60-80 hours a month of sport.

Compare that to the price per hour of Netflix, going to a film, the theatre, buying a hardcover book, a night out, a takeaway...it's actually very good value.

That's a fair point of view from that perspective but most people aren't watching all the stuff that you watch.

I can go to the cinema as many times I want for £14.99 a month as long as it isn't in a recliner or 3D screening there isn't an additional cost. Apart from Amazon Prime which only has a few rounds of fixtures in the winter, there isn't a sports package for less than that.

What % of football fans do you think are completely unineterested in all other sport including foreign/international football.

I think most get their money's worth, which is probably played out by the fact Sky and co are still doing booming trade despite the widespread proliferation of illegal streaming and using VPN's to get around.

Part of the problem with sky is they won’t let you take sky sports as a stand alone package, charge say £15- 20 a month and they’d have subscription figures going through the roof, but as it is people are deserting in their droves and getting IPTV for roughly what £40 -80 a year, drop their prices and people might go back until then forget about it ..

No idea. But it's obviously a minority of people that watch all that stuff.

Maybe people want to watch one match a weekend and a highlights show and do other stuff with their free time not spend all day watching sport.
