Improved bid for Bellamy rejected.

Re: BREAKING NEWS... CRAIG BELLAMY

Bellamy isn't shit, however I don't want City to sign him. There are several reasons for this.

1 - He may nit be shit, but he's also not superb either. He's above average, and I was hoping we were in for a higher calibre of player than 'above average'.

2 - He's a cock. His attitude is awful, he kicks off with opponents on the pitch and teamates off it. A negative influence on a dressing room already in turmoil.

3 - The quoted prices are getting too high for him, £9m is about the maximum we should be paying. If £13m is the price we do spend then that's overpaying by a good amount.

4 - He's no spring chicken, 29 now so, as a quick forward, his bets years are behind him. He's not a Sheringham player, or a Bergkamp, who can use their skill to play into their mid-to-late 30's. He's an Owen type player who will be shot in 2 to 3 years time.

5 - He's injury prone, how many games has he missed whilst at West Ham? It's no wonder they're rubbing their hands in glee, £!3m for a crock. They must be laughing their collective dicks off!

I am veering very much towards Hughes going now so that the incoming manager has some time in the transfer window however, at the back of my mind I am still hoping he can pick up a few more solid players (like Bridge) who will contribute to the team etc etc and most importantly hopefully put a string of positive results together over the next month or so.

For me signing Bellamy for £10-14m is a not a step forward at all. He does not have a great scoring record in recent seasons but does seem to excel at causing dressing room unrest and keep the physios busy. If Bellamy signs, I think my mind about Hughes will be decided.

Bellamy is 30 later this year and would surely be a short term expensive signing. I'd rather we signed Podolski who would be cheaper in transfer fee, would be a good signing now and for the future. Two years from now Bellamy will be in the twilight of his career and Podolski will be 25 and coming into the best part of his career.

This is exactly the kind of post that got my back up in the first place. Podolski can't get into the Bayern team. Who's to say he's 100% fit? Who's to say he can cope with the pace of the Premier League and score goals NOW - which is what we need?

Two years from now - who bloody cares if Bellamy is 32 - we are in real danger of being sucked into a relegation fight this season and he is ideal to get us out of it!!

WTF since when do we need goals ? we are second highest scorers in the league. we need a DM, and 2 center backs. this isnt about goals its about hughes getting in his bum chums to help him overpower the dissenters.

RSC and bellamy are his pals

Re: BREAKING NEWS... CRAIG BELLAMY

we need another striker like bellamy who can score and i agree we need 2 center defenders. If we dont get these were gonna be in trouble. COME ON MCFC!!!!

Without feeling the need to shout, can you name the top scoirng teams in the Prem?

I'll give you a hint, there are 18 teams who have scored LESS Premiership goals than us! It's at the back we need to strengthen, we've got goals in the squad!

your right! but i think we need a goalscorer because its our midfeild whos scoring and therefore we seem to be doing the tactic, well score one more goal than you, with a goalscorer the midfeild will feel less pressurised to score goals and the team can play good football rather than concentrating on just scoring one more goal than you

Re: Bellamy set to travel to Manchester.

if you take robbie, superman and swp out of the side we will not score goals. Look at the forset game, we didnt even look like creating anything

URG is one of the fairest and most thoughtful posters here if he writes something it is never simply to get any ones back up, and for what it's worth if you feel that way you might want to annualize why it does for you and perhaps reconsider your viewpoint. Football is a simple game, but hidden in it are great complexities and it is those that make us all so passionate about both the game and our team. I really don't want Bellamy and have go over the reasons repeatedly yet others do, however the bottom line is until Hughes is removed the only person that really matters is him.
