I can't be doing with all this negativity re Bellamy..

I mean 'F**k Off Hughes' and 'He's shit!' and 'What can't we buy Villa?' yawn yawn bleedin yawn

Everyone knows that transfers between Preimiership clubs have inflated prices - fact! That's why managers look abroad for the cheaper deals. However, now the pound is struggling there is no guarentee of that either!!

I made a point of watching the WHU v Barcodes match at the weekend and Bellamy was excellent. We need a striker that can hit the ground running, can score goals in the Premier League and will work his socks off for the manager and the team. Bellamy, on current form, ticks all those boxes.

If he costs us 11, 12, 13 million - who bloody cares?? It's not your money - it's the sheikhs. If he wants to spend that amount to ensure we push on and turn this season round then so be it.

If we sign someone like Villa and he can't hack the pace of the Premier League - then what?? Torres had a great first season with the scousers but that's a one off and there is no guarentee that Villa will make the same impact.

We need players that know what the league is all about and improve on what we have got. Bellamy can do exactly that.

Just let the club get on with it and support whoever comes in - Jesus!!!
excellant post mate i feel much the same way, cant believe the amount of critics we have here. Its exciting times for us so lets not be to judgemental before they even get here.

First thing apologise I am quoting on this instead of Astonblue but as we all agree thought it would be OK. I only want to add that when Torres had his great first season - Rafa had a squad where he did not put undue pressure on him to start scoring right away where we need the goals now and Bellamy know MH. Another point Torres wanted to join Liverpool BUT lets not kid ourselves City will not be Villa first choice and will be here because we are his only choice.

Thats a good point well made.

Bellamy said that he would much sooner join Spurs than us on Friday, so it works both ways and lets not kid ourselves there are very few footballers still playing at the highest level that where even alive the last time City won anything, so for a few years we better get used to not being players 1st choice.

I am veering very much towards Hughes going now so that the incoming manager has some time in the transfer window however, at the back of my mind I am still hoping he can pick up a few more solid players (like Bridge) who will contribute to the team etc etc and most importantly hopefully put a string of positive results together over the next month or so.

For me signing Bellamy for £10-14m is a not a step forward at all. He does not have a great scoring record in recent seasons but does seem to excel at causing dressing room unrest and keep the physios busy. If Bellamy signs, I think my mind about Hughes will be decided.

Bellamy is 30 later this year and would surely be a short term expensive signing. I'd rather we signed Podolski who would be cheaper in transfer fee, would be a good signing now and for the future. Two years from now Bellamy will be in the twilight of his career and Podolski will be 25 and coming into the best part of his career.

This is exactly the kind of post that got my back up in the first place. Podolski can't get into the Bayern team. Who's to say he's 100% fit? Who's to say he can cope with the pace of the Premier League and score goals NOW - which is what we need?

Two years from now - who bloody cares if Bellamy is 32 - we are in real danger of being sucked into a relegation fight this season and he is ideal to get us out of it!!

URG is one of the fairest and most thoughtful posters here if he writes something it is never simply to get any ones back up, and for what it's worth if you feel that way you might want to annualize why it does for you and perhaps reconsider your viewpoint. Football is a simple game, but hidden in it are great complexities and it is those that make us all so passionate about both the game and our team. I really don't want Bellamy and have go over the reasons repeatedly yet others do, however the bottom line is until Hughes is removed the only person that really matters is him.

This isn't personal jibe at anyone in particular, just a plain and simple rant I've had bottled up since last week. All you read on here is what about Villa, Podolski etc etc. The people that post these suggested names seemed convinced that just cos they play well in other leagues, they are going to be sure fire hits over here.

Bottom line - I don't agree and aiming for players that know what the Premier League is all about NOW and not in 6 months times is what we should be after.

Zabaleta and Robinho came from Spain, Kompany came from Germany and they have done well. Conversely, there have some foreigners who have been signed who haven't done it. There have even been sigings from the Premier League who haven't done the business!

I am not advocating buying all foreigners...in a recent post (I think I posted it yesterday), I mentioned I like the idea of signing some English/ English based players and disposing of some of the foreigners. If we added Given, Parker and Lescott to the squad it would make a huge difference. My beef is with Bellamy...I simply don't think he brings enough to the table...yes he is pretty quick but that's about it...and the main thing to remember is like it or not we have a split dressing room/ poor team morale...I don't think bringing in Bellamy will help that one bit.

What because some paper said it? Get a grip.

It's a fact he wants to play for Hughes who he really looks up to.

No read what I fucking said....its to do with the FACT we have won nothing for 30 years and nothing to do with Bellamy or whatever has been reported about him(other than the FACT it was reported). Furthermore, if it is a FACT that he wants to play for Hughes. Why did he walk out on him at Blackburn!(that's right a bigger club came along)

Now thats totally different. He's a boyhood liverpool fan and they matched his 6m clause if a CL team offered it. Not many players turn Liverpool down when you are a lifelong fan and they play CL football.
