Inbred towns

Caerphilly - South Wales.

Had to stay one night for work. Went down to the bar in the hotel I was staying at and ordered a pint. The sound of my English accent was enough to turn heads and I was stared at, by an odd-number of eyes, for what remains the quickest pint I've ever drank.

Had the misfortune of going into a pub in Cirencester during the pub quiz, it was about 8 years ago, but the first prize was a cassette recorder! The locals seemed to be in awe of this new found technology.

Reading this thread for the first time and I just had to bump the above; had me laughing out loud it did.

Be Glossop for me. A pal moved there a while back. I asked her what the neighbours on the street were l like; she said fine, but they thought it was really strange that she sometimes went to places like Manchester or Stockport to go shopping. Apparently none of them had ever been to either. Ever.
There are people in Ashton who have never left Crowhill estate, they think a trip to Wilkinsons next to the town hall is a big day out
Name names Mr.Underpants;this used to be my neck of the woods.
Are you sure they don't just go the Co-Op at the top shops and nip in the March for a gill.
My mates elderly parents who died about 15 years ago lived on Bowness Rd Crowhill, never hardly left Crowhill, a trip to Ashton market was the highlight of their year and a drink in the Caledonia once every few years was a marvel
I once asked my mates Dad about 20 years ago if he had ever been to Manchester, ''aye lad during the war but not since'' some people just stick to what they know

-- Mon Dec 02, 2013 3:00 pm --
