Individual Match Tickets

The thing is, having a limited number of matchday tickets doesn’t prevent the club from jacking season ticket prices closer to what matchday tickets are on a game for game basis. ST prices are entirely at the club’s discretion - and they could apply the same arguments, ie best football in the world, loads of demand, if you can’t pay it someone else will…I would hope they won’t, and don’t think they’d get away with it because the number of us who would be affected is far greater than the matchday fan base, so the shouting would be much louder. But no one can be claimed for being cynical about what the club will look to monetise further next in these times, surely. We thought £70 for the rescheduled weekday Spuds fixture was bad last season, and now it turns out that was just foreplay for this season’s dry bumming.

I think that despite wanting less ST holders they're the only 'core' supporters they're interested in not alienating too much. Firstly they don't want the earache, but we all know it won't always be this rosey and therefore at current prices there's got to be a large disparity between matchday prices and season tickets. I think they're aware post-Pep there could well be a drop off and that safety net of recurring income is important to them. I don't know how many would re-new if their season ticket worked out at £65 a game currently. Even just dropping into the top 4 pile there'll be a growing number questioning it.

They’ll let Seasoncards drop away by not putting cancelled ones back on sale. We all surely know people who’ve stopped going for a multitude of reasons.

Even after last seasons achievement, I guarantee not every single Blue renewed.

When City mentioned this second match day ticket drop I suspected it was due to the price hike, last season I bought tickets right through the season in one go as I had missed the silver ticket bollox, however, if the Chelsea game is anything to go by, we are talking over a grand per adult and that’s being a fucking nomad and doesn’t count any away game or cup game.

when you throw into the mix the way our fans are treated, boiling hot days, a token amount of free water, any misdemeanour and you are dragged out, away fans can do what the fuck they want.

it‘s a club I am struggling to identify with.

Any coincidence … Chelsea, United, Arsenal & Last home game v West Ham are in the 2nd drop.

How about the 2nd drop is designed for ONE PURPOSE ….

Possible City Internal Memo : ‘By the time of the second drop we can see if we have more demand for hospitality packages at the premium games. Then we can take seats from the second drop and nobody will be the wiser. As everyone knows, we can turn a 70 quid seat in to a 400-500 quid hospitality ticket. If we still have plenty of hospitality options available, we’ll let the fans have access to all the tickets we kept back for the 2nd drop. And best of all, with less seats available in the first drop, we’ll get more people to think they should buy a hospitality ticket to ensure they are at the game.’

Yep. I can see it going this way, and you’re right - there’s always a churn of season ticket holders every year for all manner of reasons.

It didn’t bother me that as I never stood in mine anyway, choosing to stand with my mates further back. Saved me over £200 a season compared to what they paid!
Maybe it would be different now with the pressure on seats but when they were there and I was buying match day tickets they always seemed to be the last available, I assume because most like me didn’t buy them and chose different seats or another game to go to.
Maybe now they’d sell but they were hard to shift when they were taken out.
Thing is the ground just isn’t big enough now and even at 61,000 tne pressure will ease a bit, but will still sell out.

Agreed. A guy that sat four rows behind me hasn’t renewed for various personal reasons. I confidently expect to see different faces in his old seat at every game next season.

Spot on mate.

All this £100 ticket… I pay a little less for Morrissey on Wednesday but The Smiths soundtracked my teenage years and it’s a very one off. I’m Row A too.

Aside from someone taking in their first ever City match having flown in from outside Europe, I don’t see how this price can ever be justified for 90 minutes of football.

But for many fans it will be a one off to watch City, so they can justify the cost. It’s the regular non season-card holders who will struggle to afford it repeatedly over a season.

I have an awful feeling that tickets prices are going to be stupid! We as cityzen members saw that last season especially the second half. I paid £55 for Leeds at home! On that basis, United, Liverpool etc will be £70 plus this year. I’m planning on, like a lot of others, to buy united and Liverpool on Thursday and buy other games as and when (ticket exchange seats) I fear that even those will go to hospitality this season like they started to last season!

I’ve always said to fans of united and Liverpool who have shoved the ‘you’ll always get tickets, all those empty seats’ city have to pay people to watch them’ etc etc, that I’d rather have less fans and be able to go when I want than pay over the odds for hospitality because you can never get a Matchday ticket… unfortunately, we are getting to that point now.

Honest question for members, not for the season ticket holders as you’re safe, would you rather be not as good again and be able to go when you want or gain all these new fans/tourists and win everything but not be able to go?

They aren’t £100 though. I’ve seen around £70 mentioned, I assume for the top price games with the discount guessing that will be £63. Not cheap but I’ve been paying around £58/£60 for the top price games and about £40/£45 for cheaper games the last few years so the price difference isn’t going to change my match going habits Especially when all my other costs add up,to about £150/ game.

I fall in to this category (sort of) but for me it’s not a question of affording it, it’s a question of justifying it. At some point I’m going to prefer a Michelin Star restaurant and City on TV, rather than City Live and a pie !

(I’m prepared to get stick for this and have debated posting)

I’m afraid whether some fans like it or not, we are a huge club now and therefore demand will outweigh supply for a considerable amount of time. Tickets to the highest category games have been £60-80 for at least 2 previous seasons.

Bolton’s ticket prices are 30 quid per match, same for many other clubs a lot further down the English pyramid than we’ve been for the last 10 years. Our prices reflect seeing arguably the best team in the world, play the best football in the world.

If you really want to watch the team play you will have to watch us in the less demanded games, which will understandably be cheaper.

Please also bear in mind that prices were liking going to raise 10~% as a result of inflation. I know this hasn’t been offset in many people’s wages, but it’s understandable to an extent

Up until now, the highest tickets have been for high category games is £67. From my own experience I've not seen them exceed this amount unless it's for some form of corporate hospitality.

We've been paying top football since the takeover and during this time we've experienced being one of the most reasonably priced clubs to now one of the most expensive for mathcday tickets. Granted it is Pep who has taken us to the next level and brought on consistent success and pushed boundaries.

Looking at it commercially, (although I don't agree with it) I can sort of understand the price increases for matchday tickets.I believe spurs fans are expected to pay similar amounts and they're shite although they're London base where local fans typically earn higher wages due to London weighting etc.

That said, if we are looking at a wider picture I'd like to raise the point that there are many cityzen members on this thread who've been members or season ticket holders in the past, have followed the club home and away for decades (I know this for a fact) and therefore have spent a lot of money following city. They've probably got a lot more points than some existing ST holders. Despite points, money invested watching city, this group I mention are now expected to pay a premium because a tourist or JLC who attends once a year is happy to pay £73+ game. How is this sustainable and beneficial to the long term local support for the club? The club are not making PL games very accessible to local kids who the club may need to rely on for future support. I know league Cup games, CL games will offer tickets at a lower price but that limits this group to watching city mid week. We can't comment on Cat "B" or "C" games because the club haven't released the prices but safe to say these will have seen a sharp increase.

I'd also like to raise the point that many ST holders are now new dad's etc and who at some point will want to take their kids regularly to games. How would this be possible when now new STs are being released despite many folk not renewing.

Even if a lot of us can afford matchday tickets come Thursday, why didn't the club stagger the release of all tickets according to loyalty points or put in a stricter criteria for date joined? Thursday is going to be a mad scramble for couples or families trying to buy seats together and are competing with JLCs /tourists who only signed up to membership in May. The club wouldn't have lost out on revenue if they had set stricter criteria it just would have made it fairer in those who've been members for years.

We are reliant on the team performing shite, Pep / Haaland leaving in order for games to become accessible. What a toss state of affairs.

Soriano is a ****!

The sooner he fucks off back to Barcelona, the better.

He can take Danny Wilson with him.

As for Khaldoon, proclaiming to put loyal City fans first who stuck by the club on his annual end of season videos, he’s another bullshitter!
I know a number of genuine Liverpool fans (such a thing exists) and they were priced out years ago. One put travel on etc.

Good lack of awareness and overreaction.
