My mate was injured during a Sunday League pub match, one of the players called for the Magic Sponge, we’d forgotten it so one of the subs who had a bottle of Ribena ran on and applied the juice. It didn’t work as it turned out to be a Cruciate Ligament injury which finished my mates footballing days.

The thought a sponge can help medically is laughable but every team had the Magic Sponge.

Between the bollocks was it's maximum influence area, I found. Couldn't feel anything after it was applied there.

Nothing outside he felt some discomfort, so wasn’t risked for the Cyprus game.

He’s still with the Spain squad, as far as I’m aware.
