Apart from part of his spell with Bournemouth, and the treble season with City, to my mind, Ake has always been injury prone. Once you start struggling with hamstring issues, it only tends to go one way - the intensity of the game is so demanding these days.
I'll be amazed if we get very much out of KDB in the future, after having that operation, and now he's struggling to recover from whatever the issue has been over the last 4/6 weeks. Praying that he can get back to something like normal, but, at 33 and after that surgery, frankly, I can't see it.
Then add Kyle Walker who's struggling and Ilkay who suddenly seems past his sell-by date - coupled with no Rodri till next season - no wonder Pep's looking glum.
