Injuries.

There may be something in this but aguero didn't go, Kompany was back weeks early and his injury was well over a month later as were the injuries to other players. I am not sure a flight in July influenced an injury to Sulva in October to be honest.

As usual with anything in life we want to find someone to blame or something to blame but it is not always the case. Sergio and Dave have always got injured in sergios case because of the explosive stop start way he plys and in merlins case because he gets booted. Vinnie has carried this injury for years also .

Every team has periods where injuries seem consistent and chronic - look at Arsenal
Silva's was an impact injury, and Kompany has a long standing calf issue, but we have a lot of other soft-tissue injuries which overall suggests at poor preparation. It is difficult to say but it warrants investigation. I thought it was absurd to spend the Summer in airports and hotels. That just has to be wrong from a footballing point of view.

The Internationals have robbed City many times of its best players. What is clear however is these 'proud Countrymen' really couldn't give a fuck about the consequences of playing for their Country whilst carrying a knock and the Countries that they play for give even less of a fuck - the Kompany situation is a prime example of this. VK gets another cap that he can stick in the cabinet for representing a shithouse little state and the national manager can flex his muscles to prove whose boss between club and country. The losers in this are the fans of the club they play for, many of whom buy their season tickets predicated on the 'quality of the product'. Players will never love their club as much as the fans and in any one sided relationship like this, there is only one loser. Hats off to Nasri, who has told France to fuck off (although I appreciate the feeling is mutual) - he should be an automatic choice for our first team.

Sergio will think twice from now on, I think.
I highly doubt that.

Besides he got the injury in the first half against Newcastle, had treatment at halftime and played some part in the second half and then came off because of the injury. It obviously wasn't enough to keep him out of winning the game for us and wasn't enough to keep him out of the internationals which i know he would have been raring to play in since Messi is injured and out for three months and he told Kun to wear his number10 while he was missing. but it wasn't an injury sustained, as such, whilst playing for Argentina it just got worse during that match for them.

We don't have a great record for playing players when carrying injuries. Aguero yaya etc have all played for us with significant issues!

Its not very likely, and 7 years ago, if that had been suggested to us as fans of Manchester City, we'd have been fuming about it, and rightly so.

It offers a lot of clubs the chance of a trophy, and of a place in europe, that they wouldn't have otherwise, simply because the bigger clubs don't prioritise it, like the other 2 domestic trophies.

Well said - that is a very rag style comment - not suggesting the poster is a rag, just that is the sort of entitled shit we used to hear from them when they demean the cup competitions as being beneath them. Lets not get like them........

what about the league cup being a under 21 cup with only 3 senior players playing at each game also what about sunday night football for champions league teams and give them as much time to rest after midweek games I don't understand early/late Saturday kick offs when playing champions league even if you have played the Tuesday game

I'd love a strong domestic under 21s comp but I think it's unfair on the non-prem teams. For me a better solution would be to make it a competition for the championship down BUT integrate the under 21 teams into the footballing league, like in Spain. I know that's a contentious issue for some but it would really benefit our youth players. Sunday night games is a good shout, especially if they ever think of bringing back fucking Downton!

However if it was a competition for all teams not in Europe with the prize on offer a place in Europe then doesn't it become an even stronger competition? It will be different from the FA cup, it keeps the competition fresh as anyone who makes it into europe won't be in it thus giving a much better opportunity for silverware to lower down clubs.

Why should either cup competition be demeaned to satisfy the selfish wishes of the very few clubs (we just happen to be one now) that are qualifying for Europe.

The vast majority of clubs in the cup competitions see it as their route to a trophy. I recognise that some clubs at the bottom of the PL take the same approach as they see staying in the PL as being an higher priority, but, sad as that it is, it is their choice and they should be the losers - not the competition.

Those fortunate to be in CITY's position get massive revenues and can afford to play squad players - again their choice. Suggestions that the cup competitions should be devalued to suit us seems a very 'entitled' position to take - something we would have hated before the money came in and a level we should not descend to now IMO.
