Injuries.

It's simple, we won't win anything with this injury record. We have a good squad but when you miss 3-4 of your top players each week you lose advantage you have with full team. When all our players are firing nobody can deal with us as we proved in first 5 matches.

But when we suddenly stay without Silva and Nasry upfront, defence pair that had a great start to the season and without any striking backup for Aguero, who himself has an awful start of the season, we're up there around the top but nowhere near of being the best team by a mile so we can obviously lose from anyone.

Last 2 seasons games we were able to play our best team were rarity, there are always injuries in this team and it's very often injuries to some of our main players like Kompany, Silva or Aguero.

Loads of these injuries are muscle ones and that has to be a lot to the way we work on trainings or quality of our medical team. I am very surprised there aren't some changes around that department.

Shocking the rate of injuries we are having. It's been poor for a while now too. Something needs to improve but, I'm no medical expert so I shall leave it to the experts to work out!

We miss Silva it's as simple as that. When you add the others to the mix it makes us weaker still. We should still have had enough to compete better than we did in the 2nd half.

The signs we would struggle going forward were there against Palace and whilst we were the better side, we resorted to taking pot shots from outside the box. We were a bit fortunate in the end to nick that game as for the last 15 mins before the goal, we didn't look like scoring. One goal in each of the last 4 games with the exception of the goal fest at Sunderland is a bit of a worry. Silva is the creator for us and without him we don't seem to have anyone who can do the job as well as him.

I said earlier today, that I worry about our injuries and general fitness levels. In the game today our team looked mostly out on it's feet. If you are fit it is easier to avoid injuries. Are the two linked?
Any team missing their first choice back four would struggle, then add in, Silva and then Toure having to go off, is it any wonder we didn't look at our best today? I definitely think the medical team and whoever plans our fitness levels need to be changed and quick!

It may seem more than it is but I'd love to know the amount of games kompany, silva and aguero have played together in the past 2 years.

I believe if we had a relatively injury free season we'd walk the Prem.

Just hope it's not long till we see Hart, Zaba, Komps, Mangala, Clichy/Kolarov, Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, KDB, Aguero.

Defenders:
Otamendi
Kompany - been injured
Mangala - been injured
Demichelis
Clichy - been injured
Kolarov
Sagna - had a knock
Zabaleta - been injured

Midfield:
Delph - been injured
Fernando - been injured
Fernandinho - had a knock
Nasri - been injured
Silva - been injured
Navas
KDB

Sterling - been injured
Roberts
Toure

Strikers:
Bony - been injured
Aguero - been injured
Iheanacho

So out of our squad so far this season there has only been 8 players who have stayed fit, 2 of whom are youth players & 2 more who are new signings & played less. This is just 6 games into the season & we're in a very heavy period of games. Pretty shocking record to be honest - needs to be looked at as it could easily kill off our season after such a promising start.
So I posted this a while ago; it's even more impressive now.

Keepers:
Hart - been injured
Caballero

Defenders:
Otamendi
Kompany - been injured
Mangala - been injured
Demichelis
Clichy - been injured
Kolarov
Sagna - had a knock
Zabaleta - been injured

Midfield:
Delph - been injured
Fernando - been injured
Fernandinho - had a knock
Nasri - been injured
Silva - been injured
Navas
KDB

Sterling - been injured
Roberts
Toure - been injured

Strikers:
Bony - been injured
Aguero - been injured
Iheanacho - been injured

Just 7 players there who've not yet been injured or had knocks this season, of which realistically a maximum of 3 (being generous, could even be 1) are first 11 players.

For me it's no wonder we've started to struggle, you simply cannot lose 100% of your spine & expect to be OK (Hart, Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero). Add on to that the addition of new players, some of whom have not played or barely played in PL before being forced straight into the first team as key players, then combined with the constant injury each game leading to a new starting 11 each match... It's a formula for disaster. Our back up players are strong but you need consistency, our team is chopping & changing, our defence, midfield & attack seems different week on week - how do you train for that?

Injuries are crippling what looked a promising season, the hope is that this curse has to stop soon & that none of the current injuries are long-term & that we'll be back to full strength sooner rather than later - because for me, with a full strength team we win this league, but if we go another 5-6+ weeks like we are currently we could be in trouble of even getting any trophies.

Another factor in relation to having so many injuries is that those players who do play, and who perform below par, know that there is nobody waiting to take their place or put pressure on them.

The problem for me is that our performance level nosedives when 2 or more of those three plus Toure are either injured or off form. I thought we'd overcome that with the signings in the summer but it's clearly still a big issue.

Regular injuiries to key players has been a problem for 3 seasons now..

I find it amazing after the problems we had last season that we havent brought in some of the worlds best sports injury specialists to help with this problem..

We wont win anything until we sort this out as its obvious that the current medical staff are not up to the job..

Am i right in thinking that the current doc is someone Mancini brought in ?

first title winning season we barely had any injuries. Bring that guy back and pay him weekly as much a Yaya.

I didn't think he was Mancini's man initially but he might well be. I knew he'd brought in a fellow Italian and Dr Sala is Italian. But there's nothing about him on the internet, other than the fact he's our club doctor. That worries me. In the 2011/12 season we had the best injury record in the PL. Since then, our injury record is far worse and things like this can cost you points and titles.

Seem to remember reading that one of the ambitions of the group was to have the very best facilities for studying and caring for sports injuries based at the Etihad. The concept was that sports treams from around the world would send their injured athletes here for the most advanced attention. Perhaps I dreamt this, but if I didn't, it certainly seems far off, as our place is more like M*A*S*H at the moment.

That's down to the manager expecting us to play the same way despite having key players injured instead of adapting.

Its obvious we have a problem somewhere, it needs sorting out ASAP..

I am sure the Doc we have now only came in after Mancini got rid of the other guy..

In my opinion, I actually believe that our medical staff graduated from Hogwarts, or RB's bucket and sponge college, than an esteemed place of learning.

Over the years as each season flows by into the next, nothing has changed my mind on that.
