Injury Updates

Poor Philippe Sandler.

He’s brilliant at being injured and still doesn’t make it onto this list after the best part of two years out. Come on now show some respect! What does he have to do?

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed that all football forums have in common is that every fan base thinks their injury record is the worst.

This season there will be more everywhere so unfortunately we will just have to get on with it.

Been like it for 3 years now . Don’t care what anyone says something is not right about the way we train .

Injuries no different in past seasons to other clubs Bad training regimes would result in muscle injuries most of ours are joints This season, I’ve said it on other threads, we will see lots of injuries throughout football because of the insanity of finishing last season and the schedule of this and the next few seasons. We didnt have a pre-season, so players had a couple of weeks off, straight into this one without correct preparation Last season should have been declared null and void and started this one as normal. looking at the calendar players are not going to get proper recuperation time until after the winter WC season its absolutely madness

Injuries will only mount this season, I fear. Players don’t look fresh and some are being run into the ground; quite likely that some who return will find themselves injured again soon. It doesn’t make the spectacle any more attractive.

I'd love to see another club who's had the same number of prolonged injuries to the same amount of key players that we've had in the last 3-4 years. It's farcical at this stage.

We do get lots of injuries, because our key players play an incredibly large number of big, high tempo games in a season. The biggest reason (apart from luck) that Liverpool have had less is that they have basically sacked off the domestic cups recently.

The way this season has been cobbled together and having internationals amongst 3 games a week for the club's teams will be ravaged with injuries all season. We are going through it now, De Bruyne said as much a week ago in a interview. He wasn't wrong.

FIFA, the FA, the Premier League and UEFA and the rest should be ashamed of themselves for putting the players through so many games thick and fast with next to no pre season for most clubs.

Agree completely. I would love to see us integrate some younger players to help the burden. I don't think throwing one or two in would make much difference and will help with the number of games we have and the lack of recovery time. The younger players will recover far quicker. This season should be sacking the league cup off really, but Pep just will not do it. He wants to win everything, but I think it hurts us when it comes to the Champions League knockouts.

The way we're playing this season we're also not really controlling games and so the amount of running will be a lot higher. Usually we'd punish teams early and then pass it around and manage the game. We seem to have lost that and end up in this end to end counter attacking football which requires effort right to the end of the match. At least in the CL you can still make the 5 subs. And hopefully game management improves as we get into the season. A lot of poor passing and mistakes throughout the side so far.

I have to agree with this.

Fernandinho is injured and I would give Doyle a start this weekend. He’s played well in his recent starts. Mature performances, kept the ball well, worked hard defensively and displayed his technique.

If he starts with all the first team regulars again he won’t look out of place. Rodri is starting a lot of consecutive games and Gundogan is just back from Covid so we don’t have too many options in midfield. Give Doyle a game.
