How many of us on here said we needed another striker over summer? I'm amazed the club didn't address this.

It goes without saying that Aguero is the best striker in the PL for years but the legend shouldn't be expected to play every game. We need to look after him and keep him for when we need a goal.

5 PL games in and we have no striker. I can't see how we will win much this season with this situation.

Jeez....I'd even take Ighalo that's how desperate we are hahaha!!!

I wouldn't say we're not creating chances, we're just not creating as many as we're accustomed to. We got in quite a few great positions today, only to pick the wrong pass and when the right pass was delivered we seemed unable to trap the ball.

The club are always sleeping on stuff like this.

Plenty on here said this would happen. He was coming off a bad knee injury and wouldn't be ready for the demand of this season.

A forward player was needed but the club got star-struck with the idea of Messi.

Maybe we didn’t have money after fixing the defensive issue? I mean we are in a pandemic...

We don't need a striker right now. Besides, Aguero and Jesus will both be fit by the time we get the ball forwards.
 
I've seen Sergio do that useless and long full intensity sprint pressing their keeper all alone, and I thought he better shouldn't test his hamstring. Doh.

Competition is fine when fit and ready. I love Jesus but worries are he is becoming Sturbridge. Sturridge fit is brilliant. Never fit. Hope it doesn't go that way
 
Questons need to be asked about our medical / finess team , the amount of muscle strains / fatigue we are enduring is unprecedented , we have half a dozen injured and a few more playing at half pace , if we cannot muster eleven fully fit players then we should turn to academy players who are fit like DeLap.Doyle , Bellis.Would rather have a talented youngster with bags of energy than an unfit experienced player struggling to last ninety minutes
Have any of these kids let us down when selected , absolutely not.
 
There's no need for him to be playing so much football so soon after coming back from injury. We have Delap who is scoring goals at youth level and looks a talent. Why not put some faith in him while we slowly bring Aguero back to match sharpness? But no lets just start him in two games back to back in three days and get him injured again.
 
I assume we have a very expensively assembled sports science team. I’m an idiot and even I know you don’t play a guy 3 times in a week that’s been out for 4+ months.

I think we all know that there's money to spend. It's not as if we're skint and after selling Sane and others we didn't have a big net spend.

Going into this year with injury prone Aguero and with Jesus was a poor decision in my opinion.

The management at our club clearly don’t want to hear that. Mismanagement of the highest order not getting someone in last year to push and support Sergio.
 
Feel sorry for Sergio. Can't quite catch a break this season. Hamstrings as we know take a while so hopefully Jesus can make a return soon. We seem very fragile with injuries at the moment. Anyone else a little nervous seeing Kev coming back today ?

The reality is that Aguero is spent. He is not even 50% the player of just 2 years ago. Time and ageing can catch up suddenly and frankly, other than holding the ball up, he offers very little now. Given a chance he will still finish better than Sterling but he has neither the speed nor mobility to find those chances.

There is nothing worse or more frustrating than to watch an icon wither on the vine, but this is the reality of what has happened here. Coupled with the demise of Fernandinho, we really are witnessing the final knockings of a once great team. It was a truly unique decade, but if we are being realistic we must also concede that we are now entering a phase of relative mediocrity, and that any future winning team will require time to evolve and without the correct quality, leadership and management it may never arrive.
