Pep Guardiola: "We have a training session today and see how they players are. Tonight, tomorrow, decide the line up. I wait for the training session to see how they feel. I'm sure players will play in positions they aren't used but they will do their best."

Sounds sure we are without john, ky and of course joao

Either we play Jesus as a wingback or we put a square peg in a square hole and go with that kid who did really well against Wycombe. What other option do we have

Pep doesn't sound optimistic, let's hope one of either Kyle or John are somehow fit enough to play.

If there was any chance of Egan-Riley playing he would probably have been given 20 mins on Saturday

no way Pep pulling a youth player out of the hat for a game of this caliber.

if we had Jesus, sterling, Foden, Grealish, KDB, Mahrez all injured, Delap still would struggle to play a part in a game like this. We would use Gundo as striker and Fernandinho as well.

on the bench yes, few young players might get a spot, thats it.

Instead of all the mind games, could it not just be he simply doesn't know and everything he says is true? I know Pep has his stock answers that aren't always what he thinks or what's going on behind the scenes but I believe he's genuine here and he simply doesn't know until tomorrow.

Can't see either walker or stones playing personally, in which case I suspect he will either go with a back 4 of dias laporte ake and zinchenko, likely ake and zinchenko as fullbacks with ake more likely to go on the right. it's far from ideal but it's only one player out of position and otherwise a legitimate starting defence or if not that we see Fernandinho right back. No chance we throw a kid in, out of his depth would be an olympic swimming pool, this game would be throwing him in the Atlantic.

36 year old who’s legs have clearly gone or a 19 year old who’s been with the first team all season I know who I’d play

If pep was planning to start Fernandinho I reckon he would been subbed instead of Rodri on Saturday

Or even started. Watford at home is an easier test than Madrid at home.

Knowing that he'll be without Cancelo, Pep must be optimistic about either Stones or Walker starting tomorrow.

The situation is this, there is training today. Walker and Stones will clearly have been made available to train by the medical team or Pep would have already said both are definitely out and not what he has said "we have training later today and we will see".

It therefore stands to reason that this call will be made initially by each player reporting back and then finally by Pep. I find it difficult to imagine that after the hard time Pep gave Walker for his non availability due to suspension he's not going to play him if Walker says he feels fine.

On Stones, I am not sure he starts anyway if fit so that's less of an immediate issue.

Maybe it's Stones who is going to play at RB, given Pep said some players will be used in unfamiliar roles. Or maybe Ake at LB. Both Stones and Ake have some experience at FB, but that's not their typical role. We'll be fine. Would be nice to win, but even a draw wouldn't be a bad result given our problems at FB. We can win in Madrid.

Pep will use his entire first team and work out the formation later before he puts in a completely untried kid that fits the position. The last 5 years has taught us that.

I don't think he's planning on it, just think that he would be an option before he opts to play Egan-Riley.

I think it's telling he gave Ake a run out weekend to make sure the niggle he got wasn't a problem. it's going to be dias laporte ake and zinchenko if walker and stones are unavailable.

I agree
