If Kev knows he has ligament damage, then it’s because the medical team knows it too. Which means Martinez also knows it. The manager makes the decision. Players can say they want to play but the manager ultimately decides after consulting with the medics.
Still believe it is on Kev to refuse to be selected due to injury

I posted after Kev was injured in the last game that, given a chance his manager would have let him play on whilst carried around on a stretcher. He has previous for caring nowt about player welfare and long term consequences to player or their parent club. The mans a twat.

Ridiculously now there are protocols that would prevent a player who suffers a diagnosed concussion from playing for a set period yet nothing to stop the same player from playing on with a diagnosed ligament tear. It should not be the players or the managers choice whether a player in these circumstances continues to play.

Now this is in the public domain let’s see how the football authorities with responsibility for player welfare deal with this. Don’t hold your breath.

Posted before about this, Martinez is a shite manager and will pick any chance to run KDB into the ground. KDB always wants to play but needs to be saved from himself. I am fuming about this.

Only he would know how painful it was, and chose to play. Players are never 100% injury free in their 30s, and if he chose to play without fully recovering from an ankle sprain it is probaby best not to broacast it afterwards as it ends up looking like David Haye showing his toe.

I'm pretty sure he would have played 2 more games if they had kept winning and we would not have heard of this.

I think it's the "torn ligaments" that makes it sound like a crazy decision, but "ankle sprain" sounds much more manageable - even if they're essentially the same thing. It's likely to be something pretty minor, that just caused discomfort and meant he had to run at 90%, rather than anything career threatening.

As you said, most players over 30 probably play in some pain regularly.

A lot of people in here having very strong opinions about a medical decision they know literally nothing about.

KDB & the Belgian medical staff know exactly how much damage there was, how likely it was to get worse, and what the ramifications of that would be.

No one else does, so anyone passing judgement from a position of complete ignorance on their decision taken with all the information to hand is bizarre to me.

Domalino. Martinez has previous form here. He would treat Kev like one of those donkeys you see money appeals for on the TV. The ones carrying ridiculous loads with their ribs showing and legs wobbling. I doubt he or the medical staff give two shits about the longer term ramifications for Kev and for us next season. The man is a grade one twat.

Yes I'm sure Martinez and Belgium don't give a fuck about their best player being seriously injured a year before the world cup.

Theres nothing here but the usual conspiracy nonsense about a manager this place has detested since 2013.
