John Stones was forced to pull-out of the starting XI after feeling a twinge in the warm-up before kick-off and was replaced by Arsenal's Ben White.

Southgate says Stones "felt something" before the game and it was decided not to risk him, though he may be considered for the clash with Ivory Coast on Tuesday.

"We don't think it is too bad and could be ready for the next game," said Southgate. "(There was) no point risking him in a game like this."
There's no fucking point risking him full stop.

John Stones playing in half an England side in a friendly against Ivory Coast isn't going to have a bearing on England's WC campaign but, it could on City's.

If Stones has any balls, he’ll tell Waistcoat he’s not playing, because he’s not fully fit! That’s the end of!

If Waistcoat thinks England can go to the WC without him, he’d be cutting off his not inconsiderable nose to spite his face!

Definitely. After watching that defence yesterday and only Maguire or Mings in competition, no way Stones misses out

If Stones is in any way concerned about playing in Englands next match then he needs to tell Southgate that he's not fit to play and should return to his club for treatment.
No one can force him to play

We need Stones for the Athletico game as well, without him it’s going to be Cancelo taking Walkers place, then Laporte and Ake as the Central Defender’s with Zinchenko on the left. Compromised, unbalanced defence, no pace to defend the counter attack.

There are reports that Dias is hoping to return to training next week, so I am optimistic he will be fit for the CL game.

I can't believe any player would risk missing possible title deciders and a CL game for an international friendly. Club football is now becoming secondary to the international game and the greedy ruling bodies need to be put back in their place.
