Insulation and condensation saves the planet!

Should still be lighter than any other room in the house due to all the windows I would have thought. We always had blinds on the roof glass anyway so it doesn't feel much darker than before now that we have an insulated roof.
It is but it takes light from the living room due to the configuration of the bungalow

I don't want to put a dampner on it so to speak but mould will be next.

My house was fine until I got free cavity wall insulation, ever since it's been a nightmare with condensation and mould.
Same here mate . We were having problems with damp and wet walls . Especially up stairs . When i got the loft converted and the builders were putting the steels in for the floor and roof supporters they managed to hover quite a lot of it out . Thankfully it seems to have solved the problem

With regard to condensation I've fitted PIV (positive input ventilation) units into a couple of our properties, and it has it has been very successful at curtailing the problem.
I’ve looked into these one question how does it do the whole house if it’s day at top of the stairs my downstairs is open plan including new garage conversion, if the door to downstairs is shut most of the time?

Most building inspectors come from a trade background that I know but yes to understand a building you need to understand building pathology, the building regulations and how buildings have evolved over time and that requires study. Being a bricklayer for example is not going to help you agree the fire strategy in a hospital or check the steelwork in a ten storey block of flats.

Like I say if everything was great in the industry and contractors were doing what they were supposed to do building inspectors would not be required.
First building inspector came advised me on my insulation requirements I followed his instructions in fact I put more in. Once in they need to inspect it, different inspector came and told me I’d not put enough in! I was furious but he was adamant and the other guy hadn’t written it down. However I have cctv and it just so happened to record him giving me the advice, they soon backtracked, so I don’t agree it seems friending who you get in any trade things can vary

To be honest, I wouldn't know the specifics, but just know that they work well.

I was recommended to use one by an inspector after I thought that I had a large re-roofing and/or re-render job on. It sorted out all of the problems I thought I had.

I recognised a similar 'damp/mould' problem in another property, fitted a PIV unit, and once again it sorted out the problem.

They are relatively cheap, and easy to install. The problem seems to be that you can install all of the insulation, draft exclusion that you want, but you can't stop people actually living in the property from cooking, showering, boiling the kettle, drying their washing, even breathing etc, etc.

They seem to stop the property from becoming a terrarium.

@Barcon PIRis basically styrofoam which is foil backed so this is the vapour barrier, when i put between the studs any gaps were sealed with expanding foam and then a foil tape over the top of that. They have even said on the PIR the sides need taping up as well, I didn’t have to do this but did anyway for peace of mind.
Put a dehumidifier in the garage last night and got about 2/3 litres of water and the rest of the house is bone dry compared to normal, so will give a week or so get the radiator in there and see how it fairs.

Looks like you've done a good job there mate. I initially assumed that you had used batt insulation (after seeing your other thread) and that was why I asked about the vapour barrier.

Honestly pal I know a few on here are rolling there eys but I’ve literally done years of research because of a leaking roof I had it on hold so long, you can go down a frigging rabbit hole on you tube and internet with advice. Like I said before my mate who does a lot of joinery and did all my stud work said I’d done more than any builder would when it came to insulating etc, I’ve not skimped on materials I’ve just saved on labour costs. I’ve had advice off a builder who does these things for a living as well. I’m just hoping it’s a glitch that heating and the humidifier sorts out.
