Interesting Interview in the Mirror of all places

Very interesting read and he's obviously a very clever man. Look at Roy Keane, he went to Ipswich all guns blazing, told certain players they would never play for him again and was very confrontational and it has got him nowhere. Im glad Elano has gone becuase despite his occasional good performances his attitude stank.

Hughes said there was no rift with Elano , but there clearly was , and he went!

He also said that Richard Dunne wasn't going anywhere ....... but he did!

Take what he says about Robinho with a pinch of salt ....... come January he'll be strolling down the Ramblas!

Two great articles.
Was never one of the "hughes out" brigade, but he certainly continues to go up in my estimation. Top professionals know how to behave, and by turning it on to them, he knows peer pressure will ensure people will conform, and having real competition for places gives him options. What options did Hughes have with Robinho last season - buck up or i'll drop you for Ched Evans ???
I think Hughes would be daft to let Robbie go, but if his attitude isn't right, or he isn't putting in the work ethic for the team, then so be it. Hughes knows that after immense funding that if he doesn't deliver, then ultimately he will be out of a job.

Tell you what is quality - reading some of the posts on this thread!

It seems Hughes has turned a corner, it has taken time for a lot of blues to warm up to the man, but ADUG letting him do things 'his way' might just be the best thing that ever happened to this club.

(of course all that will change the next time we lose a game, the muppets will be out in full force to say they told us so.... ;)

The article reflects well on Mark Hughes, the club and the players. The club- for employing Mark and his team and not falling for the old nonsense of sacking him and fetching in a 'big name' because we didn't win anything in one season.
Mark Hughes for his perseverence, patience and wisdom to plan for the medium to long term and to realise that standards are built on small details.
Finally a set of players that have the intelligence/willingness to buy into the managers ambitions.
Hope he is being honest about Robinho.
Now if he could just set some guidelines for some of the supporters!!!

Hughes comes across very well in every interview I see, and from talking to one of our senior pros last season it was obvious that there were some bad eggs in the dressing room, all of whom have left now. Fair play to Hughes, he's dealt with it quietly but efficiently, but definitely has the respect of the squad now.
