Saw the Regan speech on the news when it happened. It was a historic speech, and it most definitely accelerated the end of the Cold War.

I remember Regan coming out with classics like "Get yer trousers on - you're nicked" and "We're the Sweeney, son, and we haven't had any dinner".

And before they killed the contractor, the US killed more of them. That's how it's been for the past year since Trump pulled the plug on the Iran deal despite every country in the world agreeing Iran was sticking to it.

Which Iranian did the US kill prior to the strike on the US contractor?

Not doubting you, just surprised I haven't seen it mentioned and I kind of agree on the deal (without knowing much about the terms of it) but that doesn't justify killing anyone.
