Iranian General killed by US Drone.

If they wanted a war then they'd be bombing Iran right now.

They don't need to start a war that they have already won!

Here is another example of why:

You have a very distorted view of the world. The US has already won? What have they won? The opportunity to squander trillions killing millions in countries most Americans can’t pronounce or point to on a map?

The World Bank expects Iran’s economy to grow in 2020/21 and 2021/22.

Can you point me to the UN resolution that prohibits the sale of oil to Syria? I remind you that EU sanctions don’t apply to non-EU states.

Unless you can show me the UN resolution that makes the sale of oil to Syria illegal then you must accept that the UK illegally detained an Iranian vessel.

This is from an article by NBC News.

In a statement, the Gibraltar government said it had reasonable grounds to believe that the Grace 1 was carrying its shipment of crude oil to the Baniyas refinery in Syria.

"That refinery is the property of an entity that is subject to European Union sanctions against Syria," Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said. "With my consent, our port and law enforcement agencies sought the assistance of the Royal Marines in carrying out this operation."

So, no Syria is not subject to EU sanctions but according to the government of Gibraltar the recipient refineries owners are. Clear as mud, isn't it?

I understand very little of the politics of the Middle East but having read a variety of news articles today I am now very concerned that a major global conflict is in the offing.

Regardless, EU sanctions don’t apply to Iran as it is not an EU member state. Freedom of navigation applies. What the UK did was highly illegal. Iran responded by taking reciprocal action.

Unfortunately, most people tuned into the Western media narrative are unaware of this.

Fair enough, what media narrative are you tuned into? Perhaps it will give us another opinion?

The US 'excuse' is that this is in retaliation to attacks on US citizens. They also say it is a preemptive strike. No incidents quoted. One does not have to look far for reasons - US election. After all it is highly unlikely that any retaliation will be against US citizens on home soil so pretty safe to say Mr Fart will feel pretty well invulnerable.

2. It was Iraqis that the US killed last weekend and Iraqis that protested at the Embassy but Trump's team is counting on his base not knowing or caring the difference between Iraqis and Iranians

It doesn't matter if they were Iraqi or Iranian if they were ultimately being directed and financed by the Iranian state, and responsible for insurgent attacks on US forces.

If that wasn't already common knowledge, the fact that the leader of Kata'ib Hezbollah was in the company of and died alongside Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad strongly suggests that they were an Iranian proxy force.

The US have them bang-to-rights.
