I've posted this before, but I'll post it again for those who missed it or can't be arsed trawling back through 30 pages to find it.
It's from

Now, knowing a bit about what makes Trump tick (Although I'm by no means an expert, I've followed his weird and meteoric rise from the gutter since the mid 90's) this is pretty much how I think it panned out:
1. On top of the impeachment stuff that was going off all over the place, Trump finds out the Deutsche Bank bombshell was about to drop.
2. Trump calls a strategy meeting so they can work out the best way to spin the news cycle - He's got form for this; it's how he's managed to keep his head above the water for so long. Any time anything bad is about to hit the press, trump has a way of either killing it (Stormy Daniels prior to the election as a prime example) or upstaging it with something else.
3. A list of possible plays is pitched to Trump, each one more ridiculous than the last. One of those was 'what about taking out Soleimani'. "Think how it would play out in the news and with your base Mr President - A US soldier killing 'Camel f*cker' taken out by a strong and powerful leader". I don't know who actually pitched this plan, but I'm willing to bet someone in that room understood that other countries stood to benefit substantially from this plan (Saudi/Russia)
4. Now right up to this point, Trump had no Idea who this guy was. However, the lure of both controlling the news cycle and making potential gains in the polls would have been too much, and at this point his decision was made in Trumps mind.
5. There was just the small matter of getting the green light from Uncle Vlad in Russia (again, I'm willing to bet this was the plan all along) and once he had the go-ahead Trump starts bragging to close family and members of his golf club at Mar a Lago. He even told dumb ass Eric, who blurted it out on Twitter and then deleted it the following day.
6. Attack takes place using
targeting information handed over by the Saudi's (again, a beneficiary), and news starts to leak out on social media.
7. Pentagon confirm the attack and Trump starts his victory lap.
8. Nobody sees the Deutsche Bank story or talks about impeachment.
9. The wheels come off the story, and nobody believes the 'he was a clear and present danger' shtick from the Pentagon.
10. The situation in the Middle East is now 10 times worse.
11. Nobody sees the Deutsche Bank story or talks about impeachment.
12. US troops are asked to leave Iraq.
13. Nobody sees the Deutsche Bank story or talks about impeachment.
He's not actually a complicated creature. Everything is about winning, even if it's controlling the news cycle for 48 hours and getting his victory lap at the end of it. In his mind, he's a winner.
