Iranian General killed by US Drone.

My larger point is this - making things up just to promote a narrative is several orders-of-magnitude over reporting facts and then putting a spin on them.

To be fair, it seems that most (all?) of the made-up crap stems from so-called Republican opinion pieces, either on air, in social media or in print.

So it's not news per-se, it's just my opinion that:
1) Climate change is a Chinese hoax... and so on and so forth...

How do we restore rationality when "opinion" is taken as fact.

I'm out if you honestly believe it's just Republican press, you've been brainwashed.

There is no chance of an Iranian offensive. We talk of Iran like they are an unified enemy army but it isn't, it's just a country.

There is a lot of opposition to the Iranian regime even within Iran and going to war with the most powerful military in the world wouldn't be very bright.

It would make zero sense for Iran to do anything, this was about about deterrence and not revenge.

I wouldn't underestimate them to be honest. 500k+ armed forces and a fair whack of firepower. not a scratch on the US but certainly, so odds are they wont go directly after them, but they may well do via a proxy supplying the likes of Hezbollah with intel and the means to use it. and they are certainly powerful enough to cause major regional issues. especially if they go after Israel or Saudi Arabia or the likes.

Also depends if Russia feel like backing them with hardware etc etc.

You missed my admission about liberal press bias obviously - it's not just the Republican press - but it's obvious that they're by far the worst offenders - what, for example, did you make of Shepard Smith? At Fox News - reporting... well, news. (But very much had an anti-Trump bias and it showed; did he make things up? - no!).

Take a listen to some staunch Republicans whom I very much admire - tune into, for example, Firing Line with Margaret Hoover. What do they think of Trump?

Hell, I'm conservative fiscally - and mostly liked Bush/Reagan.

In situations like this, I think it’s always good to put yourself in the other nations shoes.

If the Head of MI5 had been killed by an Iranian drone, what would the average Brit want/expect?

I’d expect to hit them back.
You'd like to think so but I'm afraid we don't do much now in retaliation of getting people murdered we're far to civilized.

+1

Who knows what will occur? I don't. But escalation is now very more much likely as each side attempts to one-up the other to score political points. Meanwhile, there's no incentive whatsoever now for Iran to halt development of nuclear bomb capability - in fact it's the opposite. There's a huge incentive to develop the bomb.

Not sure you can put it solely at the door of dumb Donald
Why so?

Iran was complying with the nuclear deal - yes they were being overly aggressive elsewhere - but nuclear ambitions were at least temporarily halted - and other transgressions might have been dealt with separately.

Maybe Iran would have backed out of the nuclear accord even absent Trump - who knows. But barring such a scenario - the current cluster-fuck in the middle east is all dumb Donald's fault.

And as an important asside - North Korea - this is completely messed up. A maniac government is going to possess both nuclear capability and ICBM technology. Thank you Bush/Obama/Trump for gifting us this legacy.
