Ireland distraught

To be perfectly honest, that fact that Mancini acquiesced to Stevie training with the reserves is as sad as anything else in this entire episode. As a footballing man, and someone who's supposed to have a modicum of class about him, he should have seen that punishing someone for not moving to a managerless club is a classless act...

I'm just remembering all the shit we threw at Everton and Moyes for his treatment of Lescott... what makes it worse is that Ireland doesn't even want to leave.

what it is,somebody is playing the classroom card, stephen you leave the club now or you will train with the kids.

Guys we all love the club and the team but I think many are forgetting this is not happy families. This is a business and a results motivated one at that. Either all your favorites (I mean every single supporter here) stay and we keep fighting to scrape 5th place OR we get better players and the team improves. These players are rewarded very handsomely for what they know is the cut throat business of football. Ireland has not been up to the level of playing aside Champions league winners (Balotti, Yaya Toure), World Cup winner (Silva) and the like, he was given the chance to prove himself his form fell and better players have come in. If you do not perform at work and are given chances to improve but fail and there are others who can do you job you will get replaced. This is the game of life. Yes we are glad for the work Ireland did while with the team but its time to move on and we wish him the best. If his form had not dipped he would not have had anything to worry about.

Completely agree but my point is this doesn't seem like a footballing decision. I think Mancini is holding a grudge for Ireland, or rather Ireland's representatives, holing up the Milner deal. This is nothing to do with his ability (or lack of it), this is Mancini being ruthless and making a statement, but IMO harshly so unlike the way he’s dealt with Bellamy.

Like another poster commented- look at the shit we gave Moyes for his treatment of Lescott! He tried to humiliate the player before he left and that’s what Mancini has done with Ireland.

For the record I have no problem with Ireland being made to train with the reserves. He's not part of the 1st team squad so why would he train with them. We have a season to prepare for here, yet again the most important one in recent history.

On a second note I completely agree that Ireland should demand a severance pay. He has a contract with the club which the club has to honour. He doesn't want to leave but is being forced to by the club so they should pay him severance. Simple really.

He's only not part of the first team squad because city want him to move as part of the Millner deal. He would have been considered as part of the squad had that transfer not been approached. Unless someone came and bid for him. So that surely applies to Millner, who if Villa are willing to sell, isnt part of their first team squad plans for the season either?

The difference is. Villa and Millner are both professional.

I personally don't give a toss whether the lad is upset or not

1) We are a business not a charity
2) We pay better wages than anyone else
3) Have top class facilities
4) Football is performance related
5) If the players don't do what they are paid to do it is the nmanger who gets the sack
6) Obvious that Mancini is not going to get the sack
7) Ireland should have sorted himself out last season
8) He still refuses to play for his country (What is all that about)
9) It is said he would go to hotel with players and nip out through window and go home
10) Might have talent but hasn't mental capacity to deal with being a professional footballer.

He can go if we owe him money wew should pay him, I believe we had to negotiate with Dunne re his pay off this will be the same, the sooner this is done the better. For me I want fully committed professionals at our club who act like footballers both on and off the pitch. One thing the rags have got right is this side of the equation any players at the swamp who argues or rants at Baconface is shown the door eg Stam and Van Nistelroy. We should be the same.

Nailed on.

There are things I like and hate about Ireland the things I like about him is that on his day he is quality sets up many goals and can score from a distance he is a proper natural Attacking Midfielder, even before the take over at City he always stated he wanted to stay with City till the end. The things that piss me off are such as how he rarely gets his head together which effects his performances, ever since the take over and his improved contract he has just turned into this Chav with a big pay check, the cheek he has (whether it was him or his agent) demanding a £2M buy out clause despite sticking by him through thick and thin after all that shit with the Ireland squad and his grandma statements that he made shows no characteristic what so ever and the fact that when things are going wrong for the lad he expects Mancini to run him a nice warm bubble bath and give him a massage.

People along with the Media have been slating the way Mancini has approached his new tough man style of discipline, calling it "unprofessional" I for one think its about time we had a manager who treats it as a job and not an activity, I hear Everton fans bang on about "being a family" yeah its won them loads of trophies lately. I think its sad these players are on £80+ thousand a week if they wanna play happy family's go fuck off to pub team, these people are professionals and should be treating this project very seriously not all fun and games, I'm not saying don't get on at all it does fill all fans with a sense of well being when we see the players having the odd laugh in training or goofing around on the OS. But at the end of the day its about hard work, concentration and discipline its what bacon face has been doing for years and it pays off.

Why would you allow a player who will soon be playing for your rivals to learn your taktics and routines before he leaves. As he is not part of the team he doesn't need to be involved.

He does deserve compensation appropriate to his contract deficit if he is leaving without his own consent. Just as any of us would demand if we were layed off.
