Ireland distraught

Guys we all love the club and the team but I think many are forgetting this is not happy families. This is a business and a results motivated one at that. Either all your favorites (I mean every single supporter here) stay and we keep fighting to scrape 5th place OR we get better players and the team improves. These players are rewarded very handsomely for what they know is the cut throat business of football. Ireland has not been up to the level of playing aside Champions league winners (Balotti, Yaya Toure), World Cup winner (Silva) and the like, he was given the chance to prove himself his form fell and better players have come in. If you do not perform at work and are given chances to improve but fail and there are others who can do you job you will get replaced. This is the game of life. Yes we are glad for the work Ireland did while with the team but its time to move on and we wish him the best. If his form had not dipped he would not have had anything to worry about.

Completely agree but my point is this doesn't seem like a footballing decision. I think Mancini is holding a grudge for Ireland, or rather Ireland's representatives, holing up the Milner deal. This is nothing to do with his ability (or lack of it), this is Mancini being ruthless and making a statement, but IMO harshly so unlike the way he’s dealt with Bellamy.

Like another poster commented- look at the shit we gave Moyes for his treatment of Lescott! He tried to humiliate the player before he left and that’s what Mancini has done with Ireland.

I really dont think so, I think its just because Ireland was one of our own but his performances have dipped and you cannot do that when playing for a team with the quality we now have. Its all football related. When you lose your job security escorts you out the building. He is no longer a first team player so he cannot and should not train with the first team. These are not emotional decisions but sound and very logical. My father always used to tell me when I was younger if you want to succeed in anything always remember to make sure that you are not expendable. Make sure that replacing you is the hardest decision a person has to make doesnt matter if its your friends, your girlfriend or your boss. Wise words, Ireland made himself expendable. Throwing parties and in newspapers showing off his girlfriend and their cars, something I dont mind because its his money but his form did not match the position he had been given.

So to qoute Rammyblues "I personally don't give a toss whether the lad is upset or not".

1) We are a business not a charity
2) We pay better wages than anyone else
3) Have top class facilities
4) Football is performance related
5) If the players don't do what they are paid to do it is the nmanger who gets the sack
6) Obvious that Mancini is not going to get the sack
7) Ireland should have sorted himself out last season
8) He still refuses to play for his country (What is all that about)
9) It is said he would go to hotel with players and nip out through window and go home
10) Might have talent but hasn't mental capacity to deal with being a professional footballer.

He can go if we owe him money wew should pay him, I believe we had to negotiate with Dunne re his pay off this will be the same, the sooner this is done the better. For me I want fully committed professionals at our club who act like footballers both on and off the pitch. One thing the rags have got right is this side of the equation any players at the swamp who argues or rants at Baconface is shown the door eg Stam and Van Nistelroy. We should be the same.

I totally agree with what you say and a top class professional footballer should be able to motivate himself.

Why would you allow a player who will soon be playing for your rivals to learn your taktics and routines before he leaves. As he is not part of the team he doesn't need to be involved.

He does deserve compensation appropriate to his contract deficit if he is leaving without his own consent. Just as any of us would demand if we were layed off.

Hard to argue with any of that .......

i don't think Ireland really wants to leave City , but this club needs to make up it's mind whether he's going or not , and act accordingly ...... the delay is doing nobody any favours , and it would appear that , in 48 hours time , Milner is going to pull the plug on any proposed deal anyway.

CITY4LIFE: you're spot on.

I dont understand how fans can react like this. i would do the same, if i know some players will not play in the first team then i wouldnt have them around the squad it cant be good for the moral.

Ireland got his daily training just not with the first team! BECAUSE HE IS NOT IN THE FIRST TEAM

What gets me is that they got Platt to do the dirty deed and tell him to play with the reserves. That stinks to high heaven. If he doesn't want to go to a club with no manager then he's not as daft as some people make out. However, if he stays then I don't see much choice but to make him play with the reserves, to be honest...

this is a point some of us have been saying about the situation!

some all so have assumptions that this is all city and not what Ireland wanted how do we know this concerning the training?

JAMES MILLNER IS STILL TRAINING WITH VILLA?? Classic

they don't want the player to go big difference.

If they dont want him to go, don't fckin negotiate the transfer. Millner and his agent might want the move, but he is contracted to Villa, they don't have to sell. And Millner has made it clear, he'd ideally like to join City, but is professional enough to also note, that he is also happy to stay at Villa if it doesnt materialise. And your point fails to acknowledge the original point. Which was about if he is likely to go, why allow him equally to train and know/learn tactics?

For the record I have no problem with Ireland being made to train with the reserves. He's not part of the 1st team squad so why would he train with them. We have a season to prepare for here, yet again the most important one in recent history.

On a second note I completely agree that Ireland should demand a severance pay. He has a contract with the club which the club has to honour. He doesn't want to leave but is being forced to by the club so they should pay him severance. Simple really.

He's only not part of the first team squad because city want him to move as part of the Millner deal. He would have been considered as part of the squad had that transfer not been approached. Unless someone came and bid for him. So that surely applies to Millner, who if Villa are willing to sell, isnt part of their first team squad plans for the season either?

The difference is. Villa and Millner are both professional.
No, the difference is that Milner IS part of the Villa 1st team squad at the moment. He scored for tham at the weekend or had you not noticed? Until he's sold he's in their 1st team. Ireland isn't in ours whether he's sold or not.

Totally agree with you! I'm sad that Ireland is going he was one of my favourite players, but bottom line is Mancini doesn't rate him and he is our manager

The players that were there in 2008/09 had a wonderful chance to get themselves set for life by big performances before the spending started - and they largely failed

The players that were there last season equally have had the chance - and a lot of them have failed - or 'have not been special' - they cannot complain if we bring in fresh - they know what we are about - and just OK is not good enough

Ireland has had his chance and he was not able to step

It seems that with some players it is all give from the club - they want big wages - special treatment - and to be molly coddled - aw didums - the lad needs to grow a pair

I liked his potential big time - but we are not 'little CITY' any-more - fans should recognise that
