Absolutley gutted that Stevies leaving. 8 Million for an outstanding talent is disgusting. We are getting raped. He worth at least 15 mill in todays market. Yes he's struggled to find some form but hes a fantastic player and I really hope he does well at Villa.

Absolutely right ......

no way , no way at all , is Stephen Ireland £16 million worse a player than James Milner!!

If only it worked like that...I posted in the other Milner thread, we won't be able to judge relative value for money until both lads have had a full season with their new clubs...

Sorry but he's only worth what people are prepared to pay for him. He had a poor season last season hence his value has depreciated.

If we could have sold him for more I'm sure we would have... where are/were Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool thios time round? Nowhere to be seen.

He has done well out of us and I wish him every success at Villa (apart from when they play us). There is no way he was food enough basedon last seasons performance for him to expect to be included in our current squad.

I shed no tears. I thank him for his one good season and wish him well. I hope he re discovers his form and goes on to be the footballer we hoped he would become. But at the end of the day, the young multi- millionaire will be ok.

The crying and excess of sentiment in here reminds of when Princess Di died to be honest.

Your post smacks of arrogance and a lack of respect for a player a lot held in high esteem. A player who was being shown the door and then turning it right round, putting in the extra work to improve his game - something that a lot of people in all walks of life fail to do. You may have 4500 loyalty points, but they don't make up for being a bit of an idiot with a few of your comments regarding Ireland on this thread alone.

An Apology

Dear Mr Steven Ireland - on behalf of true City fans every where I apologise whole heartily on the shambolic way our club has treated you. Best of luck to you and your family on settling in your new surroundings.

Possibly the worst bit of transfer business this club has ever done and it’s becoming plain to see that the old saying ‘More Money Than Sense’ is clearly true

There’s no doubt in my mind that this is one piece of business that we will surely regret and will return to haunt us on many occasions - Ireland is a better player than Villa & Milner already and will prove it this season before going on to higher levels - Just a shame those levels wont be with us.

Gutted

Re: An Apology

Wish I was treated so poorly at my work.

No apology required from anyone (inluding true City supporters), wish him well and we move on.

Ireland made 1 assist last season, Milner made more than 10.

Erm... yeah.

I think you will find it was two assists , can you not remember his assist to Scholes in scoring the winner in the derby.

-- Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:39 pm --

Re: An Apology

We don't know what went on behind the scenes. On the face of what's been said it is embrassing.
He was handsomley rewarded while plating for City however inconsistent he was, one outstanding season and a frustrating player that we knew could do it but for whatever reason didnt.

Like all City players that move on, I wish him the best of luck and i'm sure he will get a good reception when he comes back

Starts per game Bob ?
Ireland never made that central midfield place 'his own' last season, whereas Milner did. Milner was also England's best midfielder in South Africa.

Milner is the better player. Ireland's head has gone; good move IMO.

And don't call yourself a 'true City fan' because you're upset about a player leaving.

Re: An Apology

Thanks for that, but you don't speak for me. Ireland is a great lad, but sentiment will only get you mid-table shite, milner is another cog in mancini's title challenging machine. As for the worst transfer business..... samaras, weah, dabo, i could type till my fingers bleed. Thanks for the memories stevie, good luck at villa.

Explain the arrogance and lack of respect in wishing him well. Idiot comment.
