Ireland reportedly wants £2 million pay-off.

I wont have a go at Stevie. Why ? We dont know why hes asking for this :

(1) He doesnt want to leave city so has asked for a stupid amount he thinks we wont pay.

(2) He doesnt want to go to Villa - he said as much in a recent interview and the noises we keep hearing back this up so has asked for a stupid amount he thinks we wont pay.

(3) Its written in his contract he is enttitled to xx of transfer fee.

(4) Have Villa matched his wages ? Unlikely, so strictly speaking he would be looking for the difference to be covered.

Finally unlike every other player in the squad he has not spoken out in the press thus far. Hes kept his mouth shut and tried to do it the right way. Personally this means alot to me. There is no idication Ireland doesnt want to stay at city in fact the exact opposite. It looks like he really is being forced out of the door and he doesnt want to be forced out.

The Milner deal has always been shocking on paper for us, I really dont rate Milner as a player that highly I dont understand what he offers our squad over and above the players we already have. So I am happy for this deal to fall through and Ireland to stay for another season in the hope his form improves.

My sentiments exactly. However, if Roberto doesn't want him he's better off elsewhere. But that doesn't give Marwood the right to try and force him to go to a club he doesn't fancy, though.

City will have to pay the loyalty payment because Ireland hasn't put in a transfer request. The figure is a percentage of the selling price, which is open to negotiation due to it being a part exchange. So only when the amount Villa have valued Ireland at is disclosed will the exact percentage be known. We've been here before with barton. The difference then was that joey wanted 500k as a loyalty bonus and City argued that they could easily have terminated his contract due to his behaviour,so fat sam had to pay the 500k.This is why RM has said it may take 2-3 days to conclude.

look steven ireland clearly doesn't fit into our managers plans, its time we moved on here as dissapointed as we all are
we are going to have to live or die by mancini's decision here.
let's hope we don't regret it

It's Mancini who lives and dies by his decisions.

Luckily we are absolutely loaded so we can get over it.

It doesn't mean to say I agree with this one though.

i know dave i'm not sure i agree either
but the die is cast and we move on
club bigger than any player and all that

Good for Stevie. Why be forced out to a club you don't want to join when you're a better player than the one 'replacing' you? Why should he have to leave a club he enjoys playing for and where he's liked by the fans?

Stick it out matey and get back in the team.

Never going to happen. It looks like the reports about RM being ruthless are true.If he doesn't rate you or you cross him or speak out against him or the club then your gone.Remember when he first came he played Petrov nearly every game, dropped him once when the opponent didn't suit his game, then when back in the side the sarcastic bollocks of pointing to his name on his shirt started.Dropped, never to return.

Unless your name is Robinho.

Bloody hell, Superman is about to leave a club that are going to be the biggest in The Premiership and move to a club that is on the slide and with no money.
Wouldn't you want compensation? He deserves every penny, and maybe more

I don't agree with payments like this simply because footballers get payed enough as it is but at the same time, Ireland probably doesn't want to leave and is being forced out against his wish so pay him the money and part ways.
