Ireland reportedly wants £2 million pay-off.

Some right whopeprs out today.

Don't see anythign wrong with Ireland asking for something that, if isn'twritten into his contract, is pretty common place in football by the sound of things.

We're pushing him out, he doesn't want to leave... i'd guess if any of us were in this position we'd be entitled to a pay off too.

Some people's attitude on here stinks; "i don't support players i support MCFC"... right, but MCFC only exist if you have players. And players are most successful when they're stable and treated well.

Just because we can bid for any palyer in the world, doesn't excuse some of our actions.

exactly if he really wanted to dig his heels in we would have to pay him around 13.5m over the next 4 years for sitting on the bench or playing in the reserves.

Exactly right. If the club's hierarchy agrees these silly contracts with players then it's only right that they honour them. Why should Ireland take a paycut to go somewhere he doesn't want to go when he has a very lucrative contract at City? The club has fucked this one up so the club should pay. There really isn't any alternative argument.

I also agree with these two posts 100%.

Sad loss to the club. This is the first "out" I've been genuinely unhappy about since Anelka, and there was an inevitability about that one.

This one is our decision alone and I think it's a bad one. Vieira here and Ireland not? Ridiculous.

Marwood must have been burning up the phone lines with his favourite new rag boy toy Taylor last night...it's a real shame that whatever the problems behind the scenes, City are so desperate to splash them all over the national media...

I noticed this myself. Clearly City blackening his name. Disappointing but not unexpected.

If we do owe him his entitlement of £2M,then we have to pay up.
However,if you break the £2M down, I assume he would pay 50% in Tax and additional National Insurance.
WOW !!! Could I live on approx. £950K ????
Just about, but knowing SI he would then have to pay for different coloured wheel trims which would cost him an extra what ??? lol
