I see a problem with the way you are phrasing that.Well to be fair that answer is simple, 40% of rapists are foreign born, in NI they are less than 4% of the population.
Lad at the local said it before: ''We already have our own rapists, we don't need to be importing more''
I’ll just add I’m talking about the people protesting not the ones burning down leisure centres, there’s a right and a wrong way to do things, harming your own community infrastructure is not it.
Yes there is a right and a wrong way in doing things, but in this instance there is nothing right about either the protesting or the burning.
In this instance you could say it is very similar to the Bulger case. Two young boys carrying out an appalling act. One that no right minded person could countenance. Their nationality is of no importance. There wasn't rioting on the streets in that instance. Or because the guy who drove into the crowd on Water Street was white (and quickly announced as such) there wasnt rioting that day.
Its also a case of the headline figure you quote needs clarification. Of that 40%, how many would be settled here, as in permanent residents? How many would be ex asylum seekers (the section that causes the knee jerk reactions)? How many are visitors or only temp resident? Without looking at those details you cannot really say whether there is a need to protest anything.
Or are we going to simply say, because 40% of rapists are foreign we are going to close our borders and not allow any "jonny foreigner" in....... And that is without even going down the line of thinking Is that British rapists committing crimes on "the island of Ireland" or Irish rapists doing so in the UK!!!
Bottom line as I see it in this instance is that there is nothing to protest about apart from lamenting why anyone would commit any violent act.
