Depends on what you define as top end, a tiny thimble of fermented potato soup at £25 or a fry up in the koffee pot for a tenner, for me the latter is top end the other a con job idiots fawn over.

And I am saying this a an previous hotelolypia team silver medal winner who has previously worked on banquets for such as he who is now the king and other top end customers in my younger days, these awards are guff, any eatery that sends away happy well fed customers is what counts and the measure of how good it is, a local chippy that does that is just as good as any posh place imho.
Personally, I prefer to be well fed, and much of the ‘top end’ is overpriced, pretentious and disappointing - I would say my dining out ratio is probably 1:10 between the two, but, unlike you it would seem, I think both areas have merit and value.

Unlike industry awards (such as best newcomer, best casual dining experience etc) which are certainly usually awarded on spurious and frequently dodgy grounds I cannot agree that a Michelin Star is awarded on an arbitrary or guff basis. There are strict criteria in relation to food and service that are observed punctiliously when evaluating suitability.

I respect people who operate in both spheres especially those who maintain high standards over a sustained period as this is incredibly difficult to achieve at any level, especially given the current recruitment issues in the industry.

If you go to the Black Country and tell them they are Brummies they will politely put you right on that.
Well my mate is from Tipton and when anyone asks he says Birmingham. So to be honest sweetheart i'll take my info from a lad from the place we are talking about.

Iv know someone from Tipton who has never even ventured as far as Birmingham lol

I've never really got the second city rivalry thing, felt concocted and a bit small time begging for scraps from the London table. Both cities got screwed over by the 'City State' approach that's been taken with London. Manchester regen might be moving at greater pace but both cities have more in common than divides them. So no Birmingham not a dump. However, Birmingham city centre has got some of the most truly useless traffic signage I've ever seen!

Fair enough, clearly we know different people from Tipton and as for being your sweetheart, pics please:-)

Last time I was there a homeless young woman / spice addict was begging for 50p outside the Bullring entrance. A large gentleman shouted at her he'd give her the 50p if she sucked his ****.
I know this sort of thing is now common throughout this Kingdom of Rains but it didn't leave a great impression.
Did she not do a good job on you? :-)

It can’t have been that recently as the tram from Eccles has not been running for quite a while. :-)
Plus Greater Manchester has lots of very pleasant areas. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. :-)

Replacement bus to the quays. There are nice pockets everywhere but in the main most of these places are run down dumps.
