Is food rationing imminent?

not because of this - this is a blip that will rectify itself before too long.

However when we have to start implementing the proper border checks later in the year the delays that will cause on everything from tomato's to Toyota parts will be spectacularly bad. Car parts are not really an issue - they won't spoil and anyway if delays get too bad Toyota and just relocate the the EU. They have assembly plants there already. But as we saw with shell fish some goods are time sensitive and spoil in queues. If its not working people will not export to us and if power remains so expensive no salad crops will be grown in the UK over winter so yeah some things may have to be rationed. The fact that some supermarkets are doing it already shows this - thats the Govt preferable method as they don't want to get involved

Half listened to the news this morning

Egg shortage = Bird Flu

Tomatoes = High UK energy costs, so no growing tomatoes during UK winter and now reliant on imports.
The Mrs laughs at me but we go for a drive round the local farms that sell eggs on the side of the road...£2.00 a dozen and as tasty as you'll ever get. Granted some have shit on them but that makes the whole rural experience worthwhile. At least that's what I tell her.....
