Is Gaël Clichy that good?

Echo many of the sentiments of tonight, he was brilliant and stepped up (literally) in anticipation of balls to United players.

Same with Demichelis, solid performance.

Dzeko, best game this season for me, was all over the pitch and gunning for it, which is exactly what Rooney did (who was also brilliant considering he was on the losing side)

His best game today in over 12 months. He did really well in 2nd half at Hull too.

That game showed what was great about Gael and why he is a quality footballer - solid at the back and his delicate touches and composure in very tight places under pressure is absolutely exceptional

Great performance he ran himself into the ground, especially near the end he looked like he was treading water when he tried to chase Rafael down the wing, I think Kolarov might get the nod on Saturday.

He gets a lot of shit but he was simply faultless against the rags. The highlight was him out jumping Fellaini at the back post a guy that is twice his height.

Kolorov has improved this year no doubt but Clichy still first choice for me. Always seems to excel in games where he knows he is going to be tested. Love his attitude.

Clichy is our best left back and was stunning tonight. He has been every time he's been called on in the second half of this season.

I like the way that Pellegrini now rotates them with 'horses for courses': kolorov for the games against defensive teams, clichy against more attack minded.

Absolutely... although maybe we should class the rags after tonight as something other than attack-minded.

Okay that's just sarcasm. Yeah, the rotation is key for a position that covers as much ground as we ask fullbacks to cover.

Well, it was the same when Mancini was in charge, but I guess he will not have any support from you. :)

But, to be fair, Kolarov looks like another player since Pellegrini, and it was actually Mancini who admired him and bring him here.

Not his biggest fan. I just think he's offensive ability is lacking (poor crossing). This season hasn't been his best, but tonight's performance has showed yet again that he's still a great player. His speed and defensive ability is impressive. Wonderful performance!

Yep, out jumping Fellanini was strangely one of the happiest moments of the night. If Fellaini wanted it half as much of Clichy he'd have won that.

If Nasri had half of Clichy's mentality we could have won the title last season. But I'm not bitter :)

That was almost funny. After that I was kept saying (to the TV!) "just stay back". The boy put in some effort last night.
