Is it correct that Bolton had their allocation increased

is it not harder to support a smaller and less financially strong club? why do people Born in Stockport Rochdale or Oldham, Bolton feel the need to support a club that they have no connection with? I take this type of glory hunting fan with disdain.
Until you know what it's like to see your rivals win the treble and you're two-nil down in a third flight playoff-final facing a miserable seven hour return trip, you can't lecture us. City fans have earned the right to be proud of our fanbase. It's the only thing that pulled us through the worst years in our history.

As a bolton fan, i've always had a lot of time for city. But slagging off our crowd? Your average attendance since records began is 28000, ours is 17000. So considering your population and ours, that's not much of a difference is it.
I see someone on hear mentioned the infamous "Where were you when you was shit" chat. Well, considering you sing that every time you play newcastle and chelsea, i thought you'd like to know that they both have averaged bigger crowds than city since records began..
The reason im on here is because an everton fan, a club who have also averaged bigger gates than city, posted it on a wanderers forum. Just thought i'd come along and stick up for my club.
Good luck for the rest of the season, always liked city.
I hate peter kay by the way.

Does that take into account time spent in the top flight?

Perhaps proving a point for you here (although personally I couldn't care less about Newcastle and Chelsea's previous) but Newcastle's average when they were nearly heading into oblivion in 1990/91 was 16k. That was when they finished 11th in what is now the Championship. We had 32,000 in the Blackpool game at a level lower.

I remember flicking through one of my Dad's old programmes when City drew 0-0 at Chelsea around 1993 I think and the attendance was around 10k.

I just think there is a lot more to it than taking an average since records began.

Your were in the lower tier for 5 minutes, we were in the wilderness for years, down as low as Division 4, Man U fans live in and around Bolton we have to deal with them as well. Regarding your play off final we have had numerous lows in play offs beaten by Watford when we had better players, cheated by the ref who gave Ipswich every decision in a play off semi, and it is a long way back from there, you probably would not know.

-- Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:53 am --

The Bolton V Stoke game when 33 folk died was estimated to have a crowd of 85,000 on however many broke through the gates to get in so the gate was never varified.
My final message to City fans is try to be a little humble, your not the biggest club in your own town or even the best, despite having millions poured into the club through Swales/Wardle/Boler/Arabs, in fact your just a few points in front of little Bolton, show some humility and more class, then if you do ever win something, maybe just maybe other clubs will congratulate you on your success.

You do not know what it's like to have a requited rival winning the treble the same week you're at the very lowest ebb in supporting your club, that is the point. Your nearest requited rivalry is Blackburn. I'd suggest you'd come back when they've won the treble but the fact is that even Blackburn-Burnley will always be bigger than Bolton-Blackburn.

Bolton fans come from Bolton and a few small towns close to Bolton, City despite 100s of million pounds of foreign investment can only pull roughly twice the crowds of Bolton.

You're wasting your time bringing facts into it. Most of the people who post on here sound as if they only started going when the Arabs arrived.

Why are you even here?

we also spent a good few years out of the top flight and at least 28k of the fans stuck by the club in the 3rd tier while our rivals utd were doing the treble..... and all the young kids went to support utd.

You spent ONE season in the Third Division. We spent a decade in the Third and Fourth Divisions.

'28K' didn't stick by the club in the late 80's though did they? From what i remember you were struggling to muster 19,500.
