Is Manchester a tough place to live in?

Just thinking after the rumours about Silva not liking it here. Is it a harder place to live than say Madrid? I thought we were named as one of the most liveable cities? Well ahead of London.

All seems alien to me. Longest I have her been away was 10 days and I kissed the run way when I got off the plane.

If you're from a warmer climate then yes. That's the only reason I would imagine foreign players struggle. The weather isn't much better in London, but the amount of things to do probably makes it a lot more comfortable for players, and particularly their families who will be high maintenance I'm sure. A happy wife is a happy life after all.

I can sympathize with Bernardo.
When you've spent years living under blue skies and sunshine it's very hard to live in constantly cold wet and grey conditions.
It can get you down.

Growing up in Stalybridge although it was a great place to grow up where I lived it was always cold, cloudy and damp most of the year, that's why they put all the cotton Mills on the east side of Manchester, the dampness in the air apparently stopped the cotton drying out and breaking down during spinning.

My son now lives in Melbourne I've been to visit him in the winter (17 hour drive) and believe me I don't think I could live there as the winter is too cold and miserable compared to the tropics where I live.
Melbourne and Hobart are the two coldest cities in Australia.
Beautiful warm summers in Melbourne with cold Winters, but not as cold as Manchester.

I hope Barnardo stays I like him as a player, I thought he would be more like Merlin but is still great imo, I thoroughly understand though if the weather is depressing him.
Let's give the lead a break, it's hard to adapt if you grow up in sunny warm Spain.
I know he's very well off, but the money means nothing if you feel miserable.
Not Noosa I hope-if so, you jammy git!

I bet some of these ex-pats get padded heated seats when they come over to the game. Soft as shite over a bit of rain and cold.

I'm not a city centre person myself, but it's improved a lot since the nineties and is changing massively right now. It just lacks some big attractions for me (like a Tussauds or a Ripleys Believe It or Not).

;)

I love the city centre, going on my first holiday of the year tomorrow booked a night in the Midland, no testing required and only 20 minutes on the train, av it :-)

for me the weather makes Manchester a tough place to live in and I can't blame anyone born in a sunny country for hating our weather and british winters.

When we have a shit winter i really suffer from SAD. If i could afford it I'd live somewhere sunny abroad from October to March. I can't afford to so I wish i could just hibernate like a bear because short cloudy damp and rainy days in winter really get me down.
