Is Mancini Being Set Up?

It's too early to call Mancini the Messiah.

To be fair, it's also far too early to start stating categorically that Mancini is only here for six months...

I know the rumblings amongst the "sports industry" brigade regarding Mourinho, but also have it on very good authority that the powers that be at City see Mancini as "their man" and fully expect him to deliver not just this season, but in years to come...

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle in the sense that I don't really see any value in sacking Mancini in favour of Mourinho this summer, unless this season goes tits up.

As for the Ansaldi deal. Lets wait and see shall we. One thing which is now indisputable, is that we have a "continental" set up with Marwood acting as Director of Football. Mancini is happy working like this, so if Marwood thinks Ansaldi improves our squad, then Mancini will fall into line...

Lets see what happens this month. If all his signings start with 6 month contracts then i think we can assume that the stopgap scenario is the case unlwss we win the league.

Really? I don't see that as being the case at all. I think Viera was Mancini's signing hence the Inter links and what makes you thi8nk Marwood is in charge?

Fucks sake, this forum is doing my head in - why must everyone read into things that aren't there or look for conspiracies? Mancini is our manager - if he does well, he keeps his job. If he fails, he loses it.

Billy, are you implying that Marwood is making the signings?

I have seen no evidence of that at all.

I'll tell you what is for sure. If that's the case then Mourinho wouldn't work under that.

I can say categorically that City under ADUG will never again give carte blanche in the transfer market to a manager. Brain Marwood for better or for worse is the most powerful man at the club when it comes to deciding WHICH players to target and/or sign...

DD, you're right. Mourinho will not work like that. One of many reasons why I think the ship has sailed on us bringing him in...

You know I could have sworn that Mancini himself said in the PC that the signings would be done in consultation with Marwood, Cook and the board. Mancini happily stated he does not have control of all and every signings. He has input and will target players but he does not have sole authority.

Its just one PR disaster after another. What is going on?
First the News Conference fiasco where he was left to deal with wreckage of Garry Cook's blurtings about meeting dates.
Then Cook compromises him by saying he had already been in talks with Liverpool.
Then this clumsy attempt to say that there was contact with Veron but it was just a joke.
Now it's looking like Ansaldi will sign despite a public denial.

The posters on here who say they have it on unimpeachable (but not disclosable) authority that Mancini is a willing stopgap until Mourinho arrives could be right then.

Maybe he is being set up as a patsy.

If City sack Mancini to make way for Mourinho it will be an act of incredible and unforgiveable stupidity.

If find the Veron thing bizarre to be honest and there is no logical behined it

Have seen a few reports about Ansaldi but the sources are pretty questionable and none of these reports have been reported on SSN who for me at least are the people whom i look too.

jeez! you dont believe a report till its been on SSN? they speak just as much sh1te, if not more, than the blooming tabloids...

Just because you say it does not make it so and I do not believe that you are privvy to that level of discussion.
