Its just one PR disaster after another. What is going on?
First the News Conference fiasco where he was left to deal with wreckage of Garry Cook's blurtings about meeting dates.
Then Cook compromises him by saying he had already been in talks with Liverpool.
Then this clumsy attempt to say that there was contact with Veron but it was just a joke.
Now it's looking like Ansaldi will sign despite a public denial.

The posters on here who say they have it on unimpeachable (but not disclosable) authority that Mancini is a willing stopgap until Mourinho arrives could be right then.

Maybe he is being set up as a patsy.

If City sack Mancini to make way for Mourinho it will be an act of incredible and unforgiveable stupidity.

I think you are missing the easy answer, Cooke is an idiot. He makes loads of mistakes, and then someone else has to deal with them (in the 2 above cases it was RM).

The last one is interesting, but it is common to deny a move for a player to protect from situations like those that occurred during the Kaka saga.
