Is Milner Overrated?

Tin hat on.

I just can't see how he is worth 26m.. We could have got a much better player for that price.

Discuss..
i think we payed way too much for milner although i do think he is a very good, honest, hard working player and do like him, seems a down to earth lad and has is head screwed on.a good addition to the squad and hopefully he can help us win somthing.

He won the Young Player of the year when he was playing in the middle ! & Mancini bought him and changed his position !!!!!!

Mancini , you dont need to be too smart to get the best out of Milner

As someone said
Overpriced - yes
Overrated - No

Plus he is classed as An English home grown player, of which we have to have so many in the squad which increases his value.
Bang on.

chelsea has mikael essien and lampard. He wouldnt get ahead of Mikael as they dont play in the same position, the other two are better than him. Fletcher and Scholes are better than him, Carrick and him is debateable, I think Carrick is the better footballer myself. He would get in the Liverpool team, but not the spurs team

As someone said, put down the crack pipe.

He will get better and better for us as the season progresses and the games are coming thick and fast. He will end up a huge player for us this year. The haters on here should get a grip and have a bit of patience. He's young player of the year and has been chosen by managers with league titles on their CVs like Mancini, Capello, O'Neill and Sir Bobby Robson

I think you're oversimplifying it. I don't think he'd be playing on the left wing if Balotelli was fit and Barry wasn't playing so well midfield.

He played in the middle when he won the award, but he grabbed everyone's attention in the first half of the season when he was playing on the right wing. The majority of his goals and assists from open play(as it doesn't matter where you play to score a pen), were made in the first half of last season when playing on the right. Yet the media and even on Villa forums, people spoke about his great contribution from the middle of the park. The reallity is that he scores and creates as many as someone like Jenas when playing in the middle. He covers alot of ground and works hard, but he's no Fabregas and probably not even a Barry or Carrick when in CM. If he isn't impressing on the wing, then i think he'll impress even less in the middle. But personally I like him as a winger. On the wing he'll create alot of chances for you. In the middle, he'll be industrious, but similar to Darren Fletcher.

where would he play for chelsea. They play with 3 man midfield with mikael sitting and lampard and essien ahead of him? So tell me who does he bench

I find it odd that anyone gives a shit about the price we pay for a player. It's not like we are being asked to fund it personally. City will pay whatever it takes to secure the resource.

As for Milner - the real deal, a quality footballer and everything we need in terms of building a successful, winning team. There is not a premier league team in England that wouldn't have him in their squad. I like his style, his mentality and his approach to the game and when I fork-out xx quid for my ticket he's one of the players that I look forward to watching.

Have to agree with you even though you're being a bit harsh on the lad. Definitely wouldn't be a starter at Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs. But he'd probably be rotated with Scholes at the rags because of their lack of options in the middle.
