Is the Champions League worth it?

cska are a very average side, I would have rotated for that match and kept the strength for sunderland, a draw would have been fine against cska in the worst case scenario, but that match left us without key players at Sunderland, it is obvious where the clubs priority is, but it certainly isn't mine.

Our performances away from home have just been poor full stop and it seems to be getting worse by the game.

Sunderland played a full strength side a day after our game.

This thing about priority doesn't cut it with me and it shouldn't cut it with anybody at the club.

Our priority is to win every game we play in but the poor mindset of a lot of our players who think near enough is good enough shows you how far we still have to go before we gain any respect in the football community.

Its clear that most of them will have been shipped off before we win another title.

They really aren't. We have played pretty well or dominated our away games (other than Cardiff where it was even). As I have said before, it is hard to believe considering it is 4 losses, but we have really been quite unlucky with how some things have gone in games and injuries to key players.

We need progress in the champions league. Going out in the group stages again would reflect badly on us. At least we won the league and fA cup in recent times. The manager will sort out our away firm issues in due time.

I have watched them all many times and I can say with confidence that we have been well below what we are capable of and have shown more frequently at times at home.

The results the sides that have beaten us this year against our so called rivals and in general only serve to point out how miserable our away from is and has been.

Whether it be defensive lapses , lack of character, lack of intensity, lack of invention , poor skill , being out grafted by inferior opposition etc etc we have seen that and more in spades so far this season and it shows no signs of improving.

I think champions league is more important to the owners than fans as it raises the clubs profile immensely, the fans want domestic success sustained for a few years before pushing on for CL glory. The only saving grace now is we have qualified our best team must play every game in the premiership from now until Xmas, after the new year I'd even sacrifice the fa cup so when the CL comes round again in March we will have a good cushion at the top of the division. I just don't think our second string can sustain us that well, the engineer just needs to make minor if any changes per match and we should get a good run together.

I have grown up in the CL era and for me the European Cup is the be all and all.
Really?

Definitely the other way round for me. Winning the Premier League again would mean much more to me than winning the Champions League. It's been massively devalued by having 4 teams from each major country competing for it.

Players who make a difference won't come to us unless they think they've got a chance of playing in the later stages of the CL. That's why players like Willian & Hazard went to Chelsea. Without those players, it will be much more difficult to win the PL.

As fans I suspect most would rather see us win the PL but, as a club, the CL is more important for all sorts of reasons.

Can't believe all this shit about Europe we can't even beat Sunderland so many on here think we are something we are not . Let's clean up at home first cos on this form we won't qualify fact

What I find truly astonishing with the Champions League is that the media have brainwashed everyone into thinking if you progress to the last 16 but still get knocked out its ok as you have improved this year and been successful. Imagine getting to round 4 or 5 of the FA Cup and being knocked out by the first decent team you met would anybody say you've been successful then?

The club need the Champions League but for me I couldn't give a rats arse about it until we've proved ourselves a success domestically for a lengthy period.
