Is the Premier League corrupt?

I wonder if they'll change the rules to make any grappling in the penalty area a foul, given the inconsistencies this season . ? If not then we have our answer about PGMOL and it's paymasters .

Exactly, they need to make it even and stop holding or wrestling on both sides to make it consistent. Yesterday the foul on the keeper was there but also the Arsenal players were holding west ham players and plenty of teams have done that this season without getting goals taken away
It is happening in every game. For me, Bernardo was lucky last week for throwing an Everton player on to the floor. I think there should be some leniency for outfield players, to a certain extent. But touching a keeper, in a way which prevents them claiming the ball, should be a foul.

The rule should be clear. Going up for a header and having body contact should be ruled as fine, but any intentional blocking or touching by hands is a foul. It's not really difficult to rule, it has just got out of hand.

I agree with you about Bernie.

I think Refs don't want him banned at the end of his City career.

There’s a corruption in English football thread where this should be merged. There’s loads of wider relevant context there.

Yesterday’s incident, given the tolerance allowed on corners all season, was a very suspect one.

We all know fans from other clubs who’ve been shafted this year by the VAR system. There’s no doubt in my mind it is being used subjectively and that in itself is corrupt. For what reason? We can only speculate

Think it's a mixture of corruption and the rules being that ridiculous now. Don't even think the corruption is against a particular team it's just where the money is going to on that particular day.

We need foreign refs to completely get rid of this "I'm a non league supporting ref bollocks"

We also need a complete shake up and clear transparency in the game

100%
I was a big fan of VAR, I still am, but I think this is happening deliberately in English football. To go back to all that happened before. We tried it, didn't work, go back to dodgy decisions in the 97th minute.

What will work, imho:
- live audio feed with the discussion from the VAR room and the ref. In the moment, not 2 weeks after.
- Third-party VAR room. Like in business, intermediaries that are not linked with the clubs and the Premier League or PGMOL.

I think VAR is an excellent idea, but I also think it will never be allowed to work as it should.

Do bears
Having just read the Clattenburg thread and seeing several stupid decsions over the weekend (Chuckle not getting sent off) you have to seriously ask the question.

I honestly believe hand on heart it is corrupt one way or another and there ARE bent refereers and officials.

Discuss ?
Do bears Shit in the woods...what is the point of this thread.

Living in Scotland most people support Scottish teams - fair enough but it makes my survey more valid (not pro man city). i went through my phone book - everyone i know who likes football supports Hearts, Hibs , Celtic, Rangers, Dundee, Aberdeen, St Mirren (?!). nobody supports Brora Rangers or East Stirling etc etc. Similar to England - proportionally the bigger teams and yet almost every ref in England supposedly supports lower league football. What a load of bollocks.

The FA cup final last year when the Palace keeper deliberately handled the ball outside the area .
Operation cover up was swiftly brought in and between them all ( PGMOL FA PL ) kept the keeper on the pitch .
Blatant corruption in broad daylight
There was no way whatsoever in normal circumstances the keeper stays on the pitch but “they” between them manufactured it that he did infont of a worldwide tv audience. “They” didn’t even try to hide it which makes the corruption so obvious and almost excepted.

Just look what is going on in America every single day they “normalise “ corruption.

Pep knows referees are far less lenient to us than to our rivals. It's not a coincidence. We have won 4 in a row despite the referees (who from, say, five 50/50 situations give only one or two in our favour). Systematic bias against City.

Within 5 years top AI models will be able to review all games in a given period and show that we haven't been treated on a par with our rivals.

And if Henderson gets sent off then City probably win the FA Cup, Palace don't get into Europe, and Goons wouldn't be playing them 3 days before a final(would of been our last hope) but no, theres definitely no corruption in the whiter than White, pure as the driven snow English game. :-/
The day them cunts got given a penalty after the final whistle v Fulham a few years back, you just knew what VAR was all about.

Wouldn't surprise me if the rags are the chosen ones next season.

They are a big brand and it would benefit both organisations to see the cunts lift the trophy by hook or by crook.

My hope is that it only has to be within 6 seasons, so there's time for them to fall away again.

Is there any mileage in the magnets theory in the NBA, I don't watch it myself, but interested in what you think?

I’m not an NBA follower mate, no idea - just found the topic of the Netflix doc interesting

Even ignoring the officiating, the Premier League have literally tried to stop us spending our own money via unfair rules that benefit our rivals over City, and are currently trying to destroy the club via trumped up charges, where they’ve thrown shit at the wall, in the hope something sticks.

The answer is a firm yes.

yesterdays VAR was about as clear cut as your going to get - people on here really thinking it shouldn't have been overturned? reaching over and grabbing then holding the keepers far arm?

if the PL are out to get us there was an easy sending off on Bernie a few days ago, assume the ref didn't get the memo that day?

go on every teams equivalent of Bluemoon and you'll see every set of supporters thinks there's a conspiracy against them, almost like fans are not altogether impartial observers and might be swayed by groupthink

over the cause of the season Arsenal have been the most solid team, and we are a shadow of the team we were a few seasons ago, that's why we are probably not going to win the league this year but feel free to carry on the conspiracy nonsense in my absence

In our last 2 cup finals the opposition keeper should have been sent off. They get sent off for those offences 99 times out of 100 but not against us. Absolutely stinks

Not corrupt. Just being spoilt by artificial attempts to stifle competition with so called “financial fair play”. Leading to a less quality league.

And being spoilt by VAR which is causing delays during games and isn’t making the game fairer.

Well done Premier league for spoiling your product.
