Any show which requires subtitles despite being in English is, by definition, wank.

I've nearly finished the first series and so far I think the programme is very overrated. It's quite decent, but so far I haven't seen anything to make me agree with people who say it's THE best show ever. I think it's quite slow moving. Maybe it gets better in later series?

I really liked Spiral & Braquo which are both French.

Season 4 was the standout for me, incredible telly.

As far as the original question goes, The Wire is definitely up there with the best telly I've seen.

I think what made it so great is the reality of it. By that, I mean the scenes on the streets of Baltimore is how it is.

Yes, Omar is amazing,best tv character ever for me. I have watched the boxset over and over but cannot watch the Wallace episode it upsets me too much =(
