Bale wouldn't be Bale if we'd have got Bale then, y'know?

Take our Kaptain for example, Not the best midfielder we've ever signedMadsen said:This says most about the development Bale has gone through. From being a average talent to one of the worlds best players.

Yeah Matt Mills was signed by Pearce. To be totally fair to Hughesless Bale was a shite left back and while many thought he'd make a good winger I doubt they realised just how good he'd become when pushed further forward.
Remember talking to a Spurs fan, he said that when they lost, he knew Bale had played!Falastur said:jimharri said:Bale has only had the one standout season. Yep. Bale's run before he saw his first victory for Spurs lasted two years, three managers and 25 consecutive games.
Thought so. Big change to last season. His goals must have been directly responsible for gaining them 10-15 (?) points. If (when) he goes, they're going to struggle.Falastur said:jimharri said:Bale has only had the one standout season. Tim of the Oak said:Wasn't it going to be a swap for Craig Bellamy so the amount depended on what we valued Craig at?

Walcott would have cost more than we could have afforded and he was always going to go to one of the top clubs anyway. It would never have happened even if SP wanted it to.
Neville Kneville said:I truly hope none of you lot are claiming you would have been happy signing Gareth Bale at that time.
Possibly the worst fullback in the world.
If any you are claiming that, you are full of shit.
And Harry Redknapp was quoted as saying Hughes actually tried to sign Bale & he turned it down, so the 'clueless one' almost pulled off the best transfer bargain of all time.
