Is this insane story about City and the Clueless one true?!

I know the Scum were after him when he was at Southampton as Bacon face had him down as a replacement for Giggs.

This says most about the development Bale has gone through. From being a average talent to one of the worlds best players.

He brought in Steve Wigley as his assistant from Southampton who recommended we bought Walcott for what would of been peanuts and he went out and bought Matt mills instead didn't he?

That was Pearce wasn't it.

Yeah Matt Mills was signed by Pearce. To be totally fair to Hughesless Bale was a shite left back and while many thought he'd make a good winger I doubt they realised just how good he'd become when pushed further forward.
Bale has only had the one standout season. Wasn't there some crazy record during his early days at WHL that he had gone so long without appearing in a winning Spurs team?

Yep. Bale's run before he saw his first victory for Spurs lasted two years, three managers and 25 consecutive games.

Remember talking to a Spurs fan, he said that when they lost, he knew Bale had played!

Thought so. Big change to last season. His goals must have been directly responsible for gaining them 10-15 (?) points. If (when) he goes, they're going to struggle.

I truly hope none of you lot are claiming you would have been happy signing Gareth Bale at that time.

Possibly the worst fullback in the world.

If any you are claiming that, you are full of shit.

And Harry Redknapp was quoted as saying Hughes actually tried to sign Bale & he turned it down, so the 'clueless one' almost pulled off the best transfer bargain of all time.

Wasn't it going to be a swap for Craig Bellamy so the amount depended on what we valued Craig at?

Yeah, that's what I heard.

I think people need to get over themselves regarding Mark Hughes, was he great ? No, would he of won title like Mancini ? No, but he wasnt bought to City to do that, he was bought in to do a rebuilding job on a £15m - £25m budget, before money came in via Sheik, Hughes bought Zabaleta £6.4m Kompany £6m and SWP for £9m any complaints? thought not

Hughes was clearly out of his depth when the money came in, for every Tevez, Lescott, De Jong there was a Bridge, Santa Cruz, Adebayor(good record at city but a twat), i think he did decent job and again pushed us on a level but it was time for a Mancini to come in, still part of history and also bought alot of our title winning squad to the club, right players wrong manager

Good

Given, Bellamy, NDJ, Zabaleta, Kompany,Tevez, Kolo, Barry, Lescott

Got best out of Ireland before Ireland went mental

Bad

Bridge, Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Ben Haim

Walcott would have cost more than we could have afforded and he was always going to go to one of the top clubs anyway. It would never have happened even if SP wanted it to.

Matt Mills cost a few hundred thousand, Walcott was sold a few months later for over £10m.

The figure mooted to take Walcott was 3 million pounds according to that charlatan Pearce. Another in a long line of clueless moronic decisions the chest beating little Englander made whilst managing City.

Bale was destined for the top from the very early days. A special talent even then.

if that was even true ... doesn't mean he'd be the player is now. if he came to City back then. Can't justify 'if's' and 'but's' when it suits you.

Hello ..... this is life .... welcome! lol
