Is this our best team yet?

Pep’s big thing these days is controlling the game and in that this is definitely the best team we’ve probably ever had. The 2017-18 team were definitely the most exciting team we’ve ever had but the emphasis on closing out the Counter Attacks has brought us to where we are now.

And the best of it is we will probably be better still next season! And to think Cascarino in today’s Times tells us that Bielsa would’ve had the same success as Pep given the same resources despite a complete lack of any sort of history of success to back this ludicrous claim up!

Injuries and covid outbreaks permitting, it may be the best indeed, for it has the best defence and is the most creative. Anyone who believes that the 17/18 team was more creative pays too much attention to the current stats about GF. They are somewhat skewed, for the fixtures we've had so far are more difficult than the ones in 17/18, and because KDB and Foden missed many games through injuries this season.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves now. Let's enjoy the performances and see where they take us.

The Liverpool team of the early 80s was previously the greatest team I had seen on these shores.

The Brazil 1982 team is the best team I ever watched on TV.

But this City team and level of performance since 2017-18 is consistently on a par with Pep's greatest Barca team and easily the best this country has ever seen, not even close.
You may well be right, but we can't say 'ever' unless we've seen them all.

Let's just say 'in our lifetimes'.

I think it's perhaps our most solid team, our most balanced one in my lifetime. Watched the highlights of the 4-1 against Tottenham during the Centurions season yesterday. I had sort of forgotten things.
Brilliant as we were up front — Kev was utterly imperious that year, and I'm not at all sure that he'll ever have another season like that — we were actually fairly flakey at the back. And when you look at the fact that we had Mangala and Otamendi in central defence, and then look at what we have now, well, what needs to be said, really?
All over the pitch we've got real individual class at the service of a single unit — the team. Don't think I've ever seen quite that before.

Brazil in 1970 was best international side that I have seen.

This Pep's City teams are better than that Liverpool side.

This team is magnificent, although for me I still think the team with sane on the left, raz on the right, Spanish Dave, kun and VK as my favourite. The lack of a striker in the summer has forced pep to be creative and it's a thing of beauty, but the minute we fail this team will have that lack thrown at it.

Managala and Otamendi were hardly the regular starting CBs during the centurions season
