Is this our best team yet?

The only City teams I can think of that come anywhere close to the current squad are the Mercer/Allison team of the late 60s and the Mancini team of 2011. Imo the current team is better than both of them.

Are we the best of all time ? I honestly don’t know. The Rags, Dippers and Arsenal had some pretty formidable teams but I do think our current team woukd give any of them a good run. If we are not the best of all time we must be pretty close.

Era dependent but none of those teams would of put a glove on the 17/18 team, imo, never mind the current team, which is the best of the lot!

Think the squad is the best we have seen, as proved whenever we rotate there’s no drop off in any area. Every player we have would start for any other team in my opinion.

I loved to watch Pep's 2017-18 Centurions team was the best ever, not only the best ever City team but quite simply the best ever. It didn't always play to that standard but 18 consecutive league victories included some staggeringly brilliant performances. This team has the potential to rival that team this season or next. Don't you agree, Erling?

The 7-2 vs Stoke that season was the best I've ever seen us play and probably the best game of football I've seen

It's difficult to judge just how any squad compares with earlier times. There's no doubt in my mind that we've had the best squad in the country over the past 5 years, possibly even longer, but is the competition that deep?

Looking back to the 60s, the majority of clubs in the First Division had high quality managers and at least two or three 'top class' players (for that era), and almost every schoolboy could name them off the top of their head. Football had a much more even playing field in those days, it was more competitive and you'd expect to see tough games every week - I certainly don't remember watching many teams as weak / uncompetitive / boring as (say) Wolves, Leeds, Burnley, Watford, Norwich, Newcastle, etc are nowadays.

I'd say that our 1967/8 squad was as good as any we've had, taking the standard of opposition, and absence of 'non-British' players into account. Imagine if City or any other club had been able to sign players like Di Stefano, Puskas, Pele, Yashin etc at that time...

Let's just be happy with the present - We've got the best squad in the world. That'll do for me!

There's so much romanticism tied up in the 11/12 side, people don't want to admit the gulf in quality.

The truth is this side, and 17/18 and 18/19 would embarrass them.

Yashin over Ken Mulhearn is a bit of a reach ;)

The Liverpool team of the early 80s was previously the greatest team I had seen on these shores.

The Brazil 1982 team is the best team I ever watched on TV.

But this City team and level of performance since 2017-18 is consistently on a par with Pep's greatest Barca team and easily the best this country has ever seen, not even close.
