is winning important ,in friendly s

Friendlies are purely for fitness after the break, No one and i mean no one puts 100% into tackles and closing down....It's about fitness and staying injury free for the up and coming season...
Players can be judged in important points for prizes games when the season starts because up til then they are not playing to their full potential..

The result is not the be all and end all but the performance is, it's hard to play with 10 against anyone nevermind the European champs for me though there are still some in our squad not up to it against the best and I feel come the start of the season a few of us fans may be surprised at who is in the side and who is out

Funny how the doom and gloom merchants were'nt out in force when we were losing to nomark teams earlier on in the tour but when a ten man City team lose to the European champs we are fooked..

Fucking comedy gold on here sometimes.

Plenty of the players on this tour are in the shop window and some previouly first choice now find themselves second choice.

Its bound to affect morale. And it looks like it has.

SWP, Ireland, Lescott, Bellamy, Richards, Bridge are players who at best will be on the bench this year. With so many people unsure of the future our performances have been substandard. It is part and parcel of trying to bring in change at breakneck speed.

Hopefully once players are offloaded we can settle down a bit.

Still not got into the later phase of pre-season training yet. The last 2 weeks are the most intense. I'm more bothered about fitness progression and not getting injuries than any performance or result. The only results I care about are competitive games. Friendlies, or as I like to call them, training matches are no more important to me than training sessions at Carrington in August, December or May.

course its nice to win any game we play, but the result in pre season is not the be all and end all as long as their is progression in one way or another.
there was at least half a team missing.
ten men for 3/4 of the game against the euro champs is always a big ask.
the only thing that counts is the 14th august against spurs

are u lot real off course winning matters because it brings confidance if the result didnt matter and it only fitness then city could run round a track so stop trying to make the losses feel any better cause they cant

ask spurs.won every preseason match with bent on fire! Real thing started and they were bottom after 10. So in a nutshell..no

I think we need to make a difference between fitness/evaluation games and a proper friendly fielding a regular squad..

As for me I´ll just keep an eye on the Dortmund and Valencia results as I hope we´ll see what Mancini have in mind at those games.

Friendlies mean nothing. It's a chance for players to get to know each other, try out different formations, tacticts, etc.

We beat Barcelona 1-0 last year but what did that result do for the rest of the season ? Not much...
