Zidane will be delayed as long as possible because when Perez appoints him, suddenly he loses his biggest political play - blame the manager. Every time shit hits the fan, Perez changes manager.

If he bring s in a genuine club legend like Zidane, and things turn, the fans will be after Perez's head before Zidane.

Lol. Get eaten alive? He's beaten Barca and Atletico Madrid, and played in the CL in a midfield two, and when he's in a midfield three it's with James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos - two players with no defensive instincts at all.

I also remember how Fernandinho was a box to box/10 who we'd never be able to play next to Yaya because he wouldn't defend enough.

He did play in a 3 but it was with James and Kroos mostly - Isco was the ball winner and tackler in that 3.

Isco would be perfectly fine next to Fernandinho in the premier league.
If we sign him there is no way he will be playing in a midfield two. He would fit nicely into peps 433 though , but at whose expense ?

We don't need him

Lovet this guy...top player but no idea what we would do with him or who we would drop....surely not kdb, silva or sterling based on ability and investment made in them.
Why not? One look at Isco's defensive work rate and you'd drop de Bruyne and Silva without a second thought after recent away performances by those two.

But its all about rotation. de Bruyne had an extended run in the team when Silva was injured and got gradually worse throughout that run of games. And Sterling is extremely inconsistent, looks decent one week then completely out of his depth the next. The rotation of these players stops too much over reliance on each one, shares the responsibility around the squad of a higher standard rather than either a few players or stand-ins who are nowhere near good enough.

Don't forget if Nasri was fit he'd be in the mix (and look at the quality of his passing and his goal at Everton, qualities we've severely lacked for a good while!) so why not Isco?

He's better than Sterling. Why not strive for better?

Why not get in Silvas future replacement already? What if he gets a Kompany injury? And a player with Isco's quality will get playing time regardless.

As good a player he is, is isn't what we need at this point; we need a proper leftback, another valid centreback, a natural midfield anchor and a winger before another #10.

what do you do when they come back though, isco would want to start every game, you aren't going to drop or rotate silva, de bruyne sterling. we never do rotate our best players. id much rather we developed our talent like roberts and nacho and give them a chance, if we buy someone like isco neither of them will play

Exactly; Pellegrini regards Iheanacho as an attacking midfielder, so his opportunities are gonna be none-existent now. He, plus Roberts and Barker might as well leave in January if the club is just gonna start throwing money at mercenaries to solve every crisis.

Plus competition will always result in the hungrier players improving their game.

this post makes me weep

Same here, 50million spent 6 months ago on England's brightest 20 year old and we should be looking to strive for better already? Jesus, give the kid a chance!

I'd love us to sign Isco, but I see him playing in central midfield, possibly a long term replacement for Yaya. He's a completely different player of course, doesn't have the strength and physicality, but for me the hardest thing to replace in Yaya's game is his quality on the ball and ability to dictate play from deep with the quality of his passing. Isco is well capable of filling that role in the long term.
