Isco

You make it sound like FFP has completely paralysed us, this is simply folly. Forster would have been affordable and would have supplied sufficient competition. Not that Joe Hart isn't going to play every single remotely significant game next season, whilst the player supposedly here to provide stiff competition will basically play the Capital One Cup and nothing more.

We should be buying this lad Isco, the Rodriguez and Kroos transfers coupled with Bale, Ronaldo and Modric makes it virtually impossible for him to be anything more than an occasional substitute, he must know this. This is also withstanding the possible departures of Khedira and Di Maria. We’re not desperate for creative midfielders, however, when players of this quality become available it is prudent to make exceptions.

Willy Caballero or Isco…

It’s nothing personal against Caballero, it is about the role at the club he is going to fill and how wasteful we have been in this instance with allocation of overseas player births.

The problem that you're overlooking is the fact that any home grown keeper capable of challenging Hart would be pretty much committing career suicide by joining us as our number two.

Using Forster as an example, he is in the England squad and playing regular first team football for Celtic. If he was to move to the PL it would be at a club he would be a guaranteed starter for. It would be all well and good him coming to us and providing Hart competition on the training pitch but that isn't going to get him noticed by Hodgson is it.

All the home grown keepers that were being banded about like Westwood are more on par with Richard Wrights level than Hart's or Caballero's.

How do you know Caballero isn't going to be number one next season? I am not ruling it out.

Why spend a reasonable amount of money on a foreign goalkeeper who Pellegrini has worked with, has been one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga in the past couple of seasons and will be going against our much needed HG places?

Joe Hart's place is not nailed on at all in my opinion.

I do think we should find room for Isco though as I think he will be as good as Silva in a few years.

Well thanks for completely ignoring logic and reason as well as my question and point, that's me told..

Yep, Joe lost us a lot of points last season, Caballero could get No 1 spot.

We should be doing this with Isco.

Italian & French reports that PSG have been in talks with Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria today re: a loan move with option to buy. #PSG #RMCF

Is PSG loaning Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria to outsmart UEFA actually stronger proof that FFP is flawed than Real signing James Rodriguez?

^ But who goes?

We can sell Garcia... we can sell Nastasic (U21)... but we'd still have to sell another foreigner to bring in Isco. And there are no obvious candidates, we have a settled squad where nearly every non-homegrown player is a major part of it.

missed an opportunity with Kola

I picked Forster's name out of the air, he's just one of many. Scott Carson, Rob Green, Chris Kirkland, Ben Foster, Kasper Schmeichel, Jack Butland, John Ruddy, honestly there's plenty of decent GKs. We're only after a backup goalkeeper, we don't need Gianluigi Buffon.

I understand the importance of creating the illusion of competition for Joe Hart's place, but in reality we all know who will start and finish the season as undisputed No. 1 this season - Joe Hart.

Willy Caballero or Isco...

Do injuries not exist in your own little world?

Yeah, Joe's goes down for a few months... bring on Chris Kirkland. The Champions League won't know what hit them.

We signed one of the best 'keepers in La Liga over the past few seasons for less than £5m to fill the canyon sized gap between Joe Hart and Richard Wright and you're pining for the likes of Rob Green, fucking hell. Not to mention that all bar Butland I believe are already first choice for their clubs and Butland played bounced around between 3 clubs last season...3. Would they be willing to take up the spot Caballero's willing to?

If it is a choice between the two like you're presenting, well then I guess it looks like we'll be stuck with Silva and Nasri, with the likes of Jovetic, Milner, Navas, Yaya, Negredo, Dzeko, Aguero in other attacking roles next season... aww nerts.

All that said, I'd still give a left bollock for Isco, but I'll be more than happy with our business if Mangala's the last one in as the club will have addressed what they needed to.
