Isco

Without going through all these pages, are we actually in for him?

All I've seen in the past press wise is speculation.

Good player, but our need for a striker hugely outweighs the need for yet another midfielder.

a free scoring midfielder is what we lack and have lacked for some time now..i am not saying isco is but damn do we need a midfielder that can bag 15 odd goals from the middle more so than a striker.

Exactly. Nasri and Silva are impotent in front of goal so Isco will be a welcome addition if he signs. He also seems to be two footed, which the other two cannot claim.

-- Wed Jun 12, 2013 7:19 pm --

we are favourites for his signature and Madrid have just signed a brazilian laymaker who is similar to him, so hopefully he will be announced with Pelle.

Very difficult to win the League without a 20 goals a season striker

Aguero went from 23 League goals in our title winning season to 12 last season. I can see Aguero recapturing his form as he was hit by injuries last season, but I don't see any other striker getting more than 12. Dangerous to rely on Aguero, especially as he had a mysterious knee injury last season which was never explained.

I rate Isco. But I also rate Nasri and Milner and Rodwell.

if the Cavani deal is stalled over valuation, wouldn't it be better to use the monies ear-marked for Isco towards Cavani.

The team needs goals. Not another attacking midfielder

Nasri is quite good in front of goal, just has rarely gotten into the positions to score due to our stunted attacking tactics. Nasri scored 15 goals in his last season with Arsenal and bagged a nice brace against Chelsea in the recent friendly when given much more freedom than he's enjoyed.

Agree plus yaya and fernandihno can both score. We need a striker more

Hmm, I think he'd get in more goal-scoring positions if he went past a man once in a while as he did at Arsenal.

It is possible that the extreme caution that Mancini preached affected that aspect of his game.

Lol. Come on. I was far from Mancini's biggest fan but hhis tactics weren't extremely cautious for the last two years of his tenure.

The supremely slow build-up play suggests otherwise.

We had little pace in our side. He tried correcting that twice in fairness. Nasri's acceleration at Arsenal was a huge asset to him and helped him beat players. It ought to have gone some way to both speeding up our build up and helping him go past players and put in better performances. Didn't.
