Madrid president says Isco has a good chance of signing????

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/1853718/0/florentino-perez/ancelotti-mi-entrenador/fichajes-isco/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/1853718 ... ajes-isco/</a>

Yeah, SSN also quoting it.

Perez also claimed he was confident of sealing a deal for Malaga midfielder Isco.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer with some reports in Spain suggesting a deal has already been agreed.

"He wants to be a Real Madrid player and Madrid want him," he said.

Then if true why isnt he then!!! Glimmer of hope or am i clutching at straws?

Dunno mate, with City not saying a word in all this ie we have pulled out becuase etc etc. Im still a little hopefull.

Well put it this way if Isco had signed for Real he would of said wouldnt he?

Why wouldnt he say signed subject to medical or whatever!

If he has recently gone public and talked about Isco but not stated he has signed then hes just applying more pressure and we might still have a chance!

Comon Isco lets have a Disco!!!

if they were going to announce him not long after the new manager has been revealed then surely he would of signed by now, not possibly signrd!

Imagine what the Madrid fans are going through.

Absolutely nothing. I know a few Madrid fans, they want Bale, Cavani and any other world class player with a massive reputation. Most of them have the belief that Real should, and have a divine right to, the best players in the world. They have been spoilt. A lot of City fans on this thread are going that way. Isco isn't big enough to get Real Madrid fans excited.

If Madrid originally offered Isco back to Malaga on loan and Malaga rejected this, surely he doesn't feature in their plans this year. If I were Isco, I'd want to be in the teams Plans on Day 1, not Day 366. If City offered this straight from the start, surely if he has half a brain he can realise that City is where he needs to be to further his career.

Look at Silva, sitting on Spain's bench despite glowing performances for Valencia, we made him a regular and we'll do the same with Navas, if Isco wants to miss out, let him.

I just find this whole transfer saga a bit strange - from what we hear Isco agreed to come to us, only for Malaga to approach Real to get them to make a counter bid.
That's fine - buying/selling a player like this is an auction of sorts, with teams bidding until one wins... what I don't get though is, if Real have bettered our bid, why have we not been allowed to counter bid?
Now, we may have done so - but if we have I don't understand Isco's stance in all of this!
He's agreed to come to us, so must have been happy with the package we've offered - so what did Zidane say or promise him to do a complete 180°? Also puzzling is that whatever Real has offered seems to have completely changed his mind, and he can't be swayed... just sound really dubious. You'd think he would take Zidane's promises and come back to Pellegrini and say, 'that's what they've offered, what can you do?'
I've already said that, from the information I've seen, I believe there's a game going on. We stiffed Malaga over Pellegrini and then go back for their best player. So they want their pound of flesh.

They get Real Madrid involved who outbid us. Now it may be that Isco wasn't Plan A there so they aren't bothered whether they get him or not but Malaga use the situation to get more money out of us. So all the media is designed to put pressure on us to cough up the extra they want but we think it's a bluff and stare them out. Isco knows he's not Plan A at Madrid but makes polite noises anyway to play along with Al-Thani's game. After all Malaga are skint and every penny counts, particularly when someone who has possibly cost them money they could ill afford to lose is doing the buying.

So my theory is that the deal isn't done yet because Isco's happy to come to us (rather than go to Madrid who don't really want him) and Malaga will sell to us but only what they feel is the right price. We feel we're being shystered so are holding out on principle. Someone is going to have to blink very soon and each party thinks it's the other.

To me, that explains this saga because if Madrid wanted him, he was happy to go and the price was agreed then it'd be done and dusted by now. I just hope that we don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar and aren't holding out over a couple of million euros or something if we really want him and he wants to come.

It's like the scene from Reservoir Dogs where they are standing in a circle pointing a gun at one another.

I agree with the above posters. I don't think that Isco was ever Plan A for Perez. I am sure he has had his sights on Bale and Suarez, and that he would rather put the 30 mill towards them. After all they don't have a bottomless pit of money and Perez surely knows that Isco will be sitting on the bench most of the time.

This is why the entire thing just hasn't added up. It comes back to Malaga trying to screw City over because of the Pellegrini situation. I am sure that Perez expected City to blink. It seems that they haven't and hence the 'delay' in the announcement.

Which then leads me to think that there are further twists and turns in this saga, and perhaps another 1,000 pages on this thread!

We just need Tolmie, PB or BB now to say their sources say Isco is getting on a private jet to Manchester today to continue talks with Txiki (and sign a contract with City) and this thread will explode.

Problem is if "Real want Isco and Isco wants Real" how will he explain why Isco ended up at city?

The money angle

Works every time when in reference to City
I can't actually remember a recent transfer when that has been said, not since the FA Cup was won anyway. I think it's pretty much acknowledged that players come here to compete for trophies now, as well as the money - the same 2 reasons they move to other successful clubs too.
