You know what though, how many favourites actually win the race?

I always think that. People always say, "bookies don't often get it wrong" as if that means favourites always win. If favourites always won, bookies would all be bankrupt. And as people also like to say, "you don't often see a poor bookie."

Favourites don't always win as you say, but the bookies don't lose too much on favourites winning either. This is because the odds offered are always shorter than they should be. The Isco race is virtually a two-horse race and all being equal, both City and Real should be quoted at Evens. The fact that City have drifted out 'in-running' from such a short price to one where, theoretically, the bookies have money to lose, is a bit disheartening. But if City fans are absolutely sure that Isco WILL opt for City, then get the money on NOW!

Well horse racing people always seem to say it is a great result for the bookie when an outsider wins a race and a disaster for them when a big favourite wins so although I realise the odds are short and that softens the blow, I assumed bookies lost quite a bit when favourites came in. Looking at this site it looks like 34% of favourites win in UK horse racing. I realise that a market like this is very different from a horse race though.

Only put 40 on all together but stand to make 55 profit + stake back. If Cavani comes I will make 200 in total give or take a fiver. Plus stakes. If Cavani goes to Madrid I cover my bets and lose just 20. My best hope is Isco to us, Cavani to us, Dzeko to Napoli and Crouch to QPR. Over 300 profit.

you are in complete dreamland if you think Cavani is coming to us and Dzeko going to Napoli

I have been busy at work and haven't checked much on transfers. What the hell changed in last 24 hours or so that papers are reporting Madrid will get him?

No you can't always have what you want, but surely we don't want a team of alternatives?

If we want to be up there and challenging with the likes of Madrid and Barcelona, then we need to make sure we get our big targets?

Di Maria isn't a bad alternative mate and we've always got to have a plan b.

Yeah guess you're right there, it's just frustrating that it could possibly be Cavani AND Isco that we miss out on.

Similar to RVP and Hazard last season.

Sucks mate :(

Gulf News wouldn't want to report lies given that it is possibly one of our owners morning reads with his tea and toast.

Got to be true eh????

So, you mean our owners will get updates from newspapers about transfers and won't know what is actually going on without it? Hmmmmm. Interesting.

Suppose we just need to play the waiting game then.

I don't favour the Dzeko bet one bit. Cavani I'm still in the belief we are faves. Madrid sign Suarez, Chelsea Rooney and Cavani to us. Only way Chelsea sign Cavani is if they somehow get Ba to go there. Besides I only lose 20 of real cash if Cavani goes to Chelsea. I have 10 on bonus bet at 4/1 to Real and the bet on Dzeko was 10 free bet to Napoli at 6/1. Cavani going to Madrid still leaves me up 20 plus stake I lost. Crouch to QPR is becoming more and more likely. I can see Stoke trying to get Bentley on a free too.
