Issues surrounding Barca

To all who have posted on this post, Barcelona have played 8 more competitive games than the German rags. Maybe not 13, but certainly not 5, 8 more games. They looked knackered in the first leg and more so in the 2nd. This is the nonsense of European football. Munich have manipulated their league so that they have a distinct advantage in europe due to reducing the size of Bundesliga. They have the state propping up football and the scum that is Bayern Munich want to remain so. Who will competed with them in German football? They stand for everything that is wrong in football, self interest, elitism, bigotry and corruption, as the average none Munich football supporter what they think. They are hated on an unparallelled level, the Gotze transfer being the latest example of how they do things.

Not being funny but they have just walked the Spanish league and yes got knocked out in the semis of the champs league. Which they won last year. No team has ever won it back to back remember. To talk of them as a team who need wholesale changes as you are suggesting 12 months after being widely labelled as the best team ever is a little premature.

Final nail of the coffin. Team in decline. Change to formation etc etc. it's all a bit much don't you think. I agree they are heavily reliant on Messi but still. They will take this on the chin and add one or two and this time next year they will be first or second in la liga and still in the champions league.
They're issues still remain though and this season was one of change for them. New manager and such. I'd argue that its fairer to judge a team more by their performance in europe then domestically tbh. They're issues at the back remain and the fact that its going to be very hard / next to impossible to bring in a world class center half next season is a huge issue for them along with the fact that Tito seems to not trust anyone but xavi iniesta and busquets as the midfield 3 and as durham was pointing out today as others have I just don't think the desire is there anymore for xavi. Him and maybe iniesta are on the wrong side of their careers at this point.

It's also frustrating to watch cesc wasting away there being forced to play the false nine position as I mentioned. Between stagnating at arsenal and now at barca hes fading away in years when he needs to be taking the next step

Bollocks, the main reason that Barcelona lost tonight, is they have played 56 competitive games and Bayern have played 43. They looked fresh because they had played 13 less games.

If you're squad is knackered by the end of the season to that extent, to me it's been mismanaged. Maybe they should have rotated more, rested key players etc.

Pep made some mistakes at Barca but his influence on them was far greater than that of Tito in my opinion. Their pressing game isn't as good this year and you can see it. This game has definitely been a slap in the face for them and it will make them look for new players more than ever.

Agree, it was their pressing that made them great honestly 2 seasons ago (they weren't as good last season either). In the 2010-11 season their build up play was slower but their opponents couldn't get out of their own half, even quality teams like Arsenal and United were pushed into their own half of the pitch for long periods of time.

But also their team lacks power and strength, and Bayern doesn't. Bayern is really a team with no significant weaknesses, while Barcelona is weak in 2 specific areas and so can be beaten tactically.

Barcelona are just as bad. Relying on state handouts!

We best get rid of cheeky (don't know how to spell his name) and soriano now then. Some of you need to get a grip, they are only 3 quality players from being the best team in the world again. Write them off all you want, barca won't be going anywhere.

The answer to Barca's issues is a fairly simple one. Spend some money and buy some bleedin' defenders! Puyols is old, injured and on the decline, Pique is a good player, but where's the other centre halves? Mascherano is a midfielder doing a job for them back there, this Barta guy looks average, Adriano isn't a centre half either. They have no defenders at all, and never seem to address the issue.

If I were Barca I'd be doing everything I could to get Kompany. He'd suit them down to the ground. Excellent defender but also good with the ball at his feet. He's fit seamlessly into their tactics and sure up the defence for them.

Where do you read that nonsense? Seriously? Is their some sort of football conspiracy theory website where someone makes up stuff and sells it to guys like you? I really hope you didn't get robbed in your delusion.

The only year the Bundesliga played with more than 18 teams was in 91/92 after the German Reunification. The idea was to allow 4 teams from East Germany in and have 4 teams relegated (usual 2 were relegated and a 3rd team played relegation playoffs vs the 3rd best team from the lower league), so that those teams didn't have to fight their way back to the top. It had fuck all to do with Bayern.

Agreed moomba, I was on full rant, mainly regarding the media side stepping, if indeed even mentioning the difference in games played. By their standards, they expect to win la Liga and the CL, the same applies to Bayern. However, Bayern have created a system which benefits them and no one else. This beautiful for us and the EPL, a league where its fast becoming a one horse race, whereas the EPL will be a 3 horse league next season and another 4 fighting for the 4th spot. With the new TV money, the EPL will get stronger and Real & Barcelona are going to find it harder

-- Fri May 03, 2013 11:27 am --

Really who suggested the new format and was most vocal?
